\n \n\n\nEvent planners and suppliers are in the business of meeting
their clients&rsquo\;&nbsp\;needs. As our population ages and&nbsp\;the n
 umber of&nbsp\;individuals with&nbsp\;disabilities increases\, those needs
are rapidly changing. Did you know that only 30% of disabilities are visi
ble? Most of the time you will not know if your clients have a disability
and\, consequently\, you may not realize what limitations your programs an
d services have.\n\nIn Ontario\, as in several other provinces\, all organ
izations with one or more employees must meet some minimum accessibility s
tandards. The Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act\, 2005&nbs
 p\;(AODA)&nbsp\;requires you to\, for instance\, train all part-time\, ful
l-time\, seasonal and contract staff on the AODA\, as well as develop poli
cies on the AODA standards.\n\n\nThis session will clarify your legal obli
gations\, provide you with guidance on how to become compliant with the la
w\, and offer tips and best practices on how to become more inclusive\, su
ch as in your communications and marketing materials for events\, way find
ing\, etc. Hear what your peers are doing to make their businesses and eve
nts more inclusive and get suggestions from them on how to tackle the acce
ssibility issues you are facing.\n\n\nMake accessibility a business advant
age that matters!\n\n\nLearning Outcomes\n\n\nBy the end of the workshop\,
participants will:\n\n\n\n \n Understand their legal obligations fo
r offering accessible events and services\n \n \n Identify the wo
rk they need to do to meet\, and exceed\, existing accessibility laws\n
\n \n Get an opportunity ask to questions of an accessibility exper
t\n \n \n Learn practical and easy to implement accessibility bes
 t practices\n \n \n Receive assistance in resolving accessibility
challenges/barriers\n \n \n Identify how to gain an edge on comp
etitors through increased accessibility\n \n \n Network with peer
