Javits Center

New York Governor Andrew M. Cuomo recently announced that the $1.5 billion expansion of New York City’s Javits Center will be substantially complete by March 2021. The project will add 1.2 million square feet of total event-related space on Manhattan’s West Side. The expanded Javits Center will feature more than 200,000 square feet of new meeting room and pre-function space, including a 54,000-square-foot special event space—the largest event space of its kind in the Northeast. The center will feature 500,000 contiguous square feet of event space.

Great Scotland Yard Hotel

The 152-room Great Scotland Yard hotel recently debuted as part of The Unbound Collection by Hyatt. On the site of the former headquarters of the Metropolitan Police, the luxury hotel and adjacent five-story townhouse is the first by The Unbound Collection by Hyatt brand in the UK and the sixth to open in Europe. Located steps away from Parliament and Covent Garden, the hotel also offers space for small meetings and events.

The Hazelton Hotel

The Hazelton Hotel in Toronto has announced a forthcoming renovation project that will include a transformed guest experience and a renewed approach to food and beverage at chef Mark McEwan's signature ONE Restaurant. The hotel and restaurant will remain open during the renovation, which is set to be completed by early summer 2020. The reimagined lobby will create a warm and luxurious atmosphere with a palette of soft creams and pewters. The restaurant and bar renovations feature a sleek design that will enhance the immersive dining concept. The 77 redesigned guest rooms and three signature suites will feature layered textures, modern technologies and a chic contemporary palette. The hotel also offers a variety of meeting spaces.

San Diego Mission Bay Resort, the city’s newest luxury resort and spa, announced its grand opening is set for January 2020, after completing a $21 million reimagination and renovation. The 357-room resort offers 16,000 square feet of indoor meeting space and 9,600 square feet of outdoor meeting space.

The Harpeth Hotel, Curio Collection by Hilton has opened in downtown Franklin, Tenn. The town’s first boutique hotel offers 119 guest rooms and 5,000 square feet of event space.

The 271-room Biltmore Hotel, a national historic landmark and luxury hotel in the heart of Coral Gables, Fla., has announced the completion of design enhancements to its 75,000 square feet of meeting space. The enrichments include new materials, drapery and furniture as well as a new fresh color palette for its banquet hall and facilities.

El Distrito, debuting in San Juan, Puerto Rico, in Q1 2020, will be an immersive, multi-sensorial, audiovisual and technologically advanced experience never seen in the Caribbean. It will include a 177-room ALOFT hotel; an urban zipline; a variety of restaurants, bars and lounges; a day/night disco; and eight movie theaters.
