The Meeting Professional Honored with National Awards

By Rich Luna | Jul 19, 2019

Meeting Professionals International’s flagship publication, The Meeting Professional, has been recognized with national awards for overall excellence and for its coverage of human trafficking in 2018.

The American Society of Business Publication Editors awarded the publication a National AZBEE honorable mention for Magazine of the Year for Overall Excellence, the highest-ever placement for the magazine. The magazine has been a National Top 10 finalist three of the last four years, but this was the first time the magazine placed among the top three in the nation in its category.

The magazine committed to coverage human trafficking and its impact on the meeting and event industry in each monthly issue in 2018, receiving two national honors. ASBPE awarded the magazine a National Gold AZBEE Award for Feature Series, while Association Media & Publishing awarded the magazine a Gold EXCEL for Feature Article Design.

The magazine’s creative team also received a national award, earning a National Bronze AZBEE for design excellence.

AZBEE awards are presented by the American Society of Business Publication Editors. There were more than 1,000 entries overall in 68 categories this year.

The EXCEL Awards are the largest and most prestigious award program that exclusively recognizes excellence and leadership in nonprofit and association media and publications. There were nearly 800 entries this year, with only 71 receiving a Gold EXCEL.

Rich Luna, director of publishing and editor in chief of The Meeting Professional, serves on the board of directors for AM&P and was co-chair of the EXCEL Awards competition.
