Dear all,
It is a bittersweet moment to realise that this is the end of your term as a President.
We have been through all the ups and downs you can possibly imagine for the last 2 years, but with the big honour I am writing today that our organisation made a great breakthrough thanks to our members, board members, partners, speakers, supporters and volunteers.
I would like to outline below some highlights and the areas we were working on and will continue with the new Board to ensure stable growth of our Chapter:
Any organisation is only as strong as their team players. In a volunteering organisation it is twice as important. Communicating the value of volunteering and the role of the Senior Executives in the board helped us to build a very strong and dedicated team.
Setting the direction, but allowing for maneuverer was our credo: giving the opportunity for the board and volunteers to discover their own talents to facilitate personal and professional development.
You may have a great team, but without proper tools you will not achieve efficiency. We took time to learn and incorporate the digital tools we must use to scale up our processes.
We are a small organisation and yet, financial stability was important and therefore we reviewed how we spend money, optimising some of the expenses as well as looked for alternative revenue streams.
We have outlined the trajectory of MPI to set collaborations with all industry associations in Belgium and make MPI seen and heard. We set the tone of MPI Belgium being a serious organisation which stands for its members, board members, volunteers and industry interest and we appeal that the industry organisations focusing on event professionals should be united.
You are only able to stand out when you are ahead of the game. We are the person-to-person industry, but technology is the game we need to play to stay competitive.
Learning from egaming, Blockchain, AI and other related hi-tech industries will bring our industry insight of how we can accelerate and improve our interactions.
Sustainability and ecology matters are top on agendas. We have produce a flagship ‘Think Food Differently’ conference and we will continue in that direction showcasing best practices in waste-free events.
Event industry is by far the most dynamic and the most complex we know. MPI Belgium stands for recognising all players of the industry: planners, suppliers and provider of services.
Be it a fashion show, a cultural event, a wedding, a governmental high level summit, a marketing event, an exhibition, a car or product launch, a sporting event, a concert, a celebration - the list is endless, nevertheless all that is united under umbrella of MPI.
The crisis showed us that event industry is not as visible as it should be. Mainly due to the fact that the definition of what the event industry is, is somewhat twisted. The side part of it that event planners are not recognised as they should be, ultimately not enjoying the benefits of career growth and incentives that it brings.
I would like to thank once again everyone who I enjoyed being with during my service and I look forward to continue the collaboration.
Kind Regards,
Elina Jutelyte
