SEPTEMBER SCHMOOZE - September 24, 2020 from 4:30pm-6:30pm

OVERVIEW

On September 24, Meeting Professionals International British Columbia (MPI-BC), hosted our annual September Schmooze event at the Vancouver Convention Centre (VCC) East. The hybrid event had forty-nine in person guests, complemented by a large on-line audience.

Guests were greeted outside the VCC by smiling COVID Safety Ambassadors who assisted in completing the mandatory health questionnaire. Those in attendance without a facemask were provided with one prior to being admitted entry into the facility. Guests were cross referenced with the online registration system and offered temperature checks upon entry.

Once in the facility, guests were invited and guided towards the meeting location where each attendee had a reserved physically distanced seating allocation with a name tag and hand sanitizer. Attendees were able to order drinks directly from their table through a mobile QR ordering system.

Health and safety protocols were re-iterated to all guests prior to event proceedings. These protocols included mandatory mask usage and 2-meter physical distancing, no moving from assigned seating except for washroom use, washroom location and access information, and instructions on how to use the on-line ordering system.

During the meeting, guests enjoyed an assortment of appetizers and beverage orders delivered by masked service professionals. Once event proceedings concluded, guests were reminded of all health and safety procedures including safe exit procedures.

The event planning team conducted a post event review and archived the contact tracing information. The event was a success with in-person guests feeling safe throughout the entire experience and no COVID-19 cases or concerns reported to date.

Join MPI as we welcome back the industry to our first event of the season!

September Schmooze will welcome 45 in-person attendees for a safe, physically distanced experience at the Vancouver Convention Centre, East. Celebrating the successes of the past year, September Schmooze will open with the MPI BC 2019-2020 Excellence Awards.
 
Featuring an experienced panel of industry experts, attendees will have an opportunity to learn about the BC Meeting & Events Industry COVID-19 Safe Restart Guidelines and how they will impact us as meeting professionals.

Moderated by Shawn Cheng, President of PCMA West Chapter, the panel is comprised of representatives from the BC Meeting & Events Working Group who will provide first hand perspective on our promise as an industry and the opportunities and challenges that will be presented to us as we navigate the new normal. See below for more information on our moderator and panelists!
 
This is a hybrid event and in person space is limited. For those not able to attend in-person, we encourage you to join virtually.

We kindly ask that all in-person attendees wear a face mask. Attendees are welcome to wear a branded mask that features the company they are representing.
