AV Production Trends of 2017

By: Soraya Herbert | Jul 11, 2017

Creating an experiential atmosphere for your attendees is what turns an event into a production that keeps everyone on their toes!

As we approach the third quarter of 2017, it’s hard to believe the amazing things events have evolved into and will continue to become. More and more money is being spent around the atmosphere of event design. Planners want to make their events look amazing because people are realizing that spending a bit more money on AV production technology can be the element to make or break events.

Displaying the event while the event is happening…

Project mapping or video mapping can provide attendees with information they need fast, conveniently and with style. By projecting images in large lecture halls, airport concourses, buildings and more; you can guide people in the right direction while encouraging them to interact with media in new and innovative ways.

Virtual Reality is becoming the new reality...

Virtual, augmented, and mixed reality have taken over the events scene. Using mixed reality, you can take physical and digital objects and make them co-exist and interact in real time. Through augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR), people will be able to walk through the venues as if they were physically there. These two technologies are going to rapidly become mainstream in the next few years. Plus, with the cost of VR dropping, it allows you to create 360-degree experiences without breaking the bank. Here are a few products to try: Google’s Daydream and Google Cardboard.

Everyone is going live…

Lights, camera, ACTION! Live streaming has become one of the hottest event technology trends; taking the world by storm since 2015. Using webcasting technology, you have the potential to reach anyone remotely; all a participant needs is access to the internet. Software like Livestream can take your event to the next level allowing you to produce videos your audience will love!

We all use our phones anyway...

It’s 2017 and everyone has a smartphone, this gives planners more ways to interact with attendees. With interactive mobile apps like SlidoCrowdmic, and Glisser in a few keystrokes, users can use these apps to give introverts a voice during presentations, start a meeting, allow for polling and chatting and show a presentation, all without ever leaving the table.

The Drones are coming…

Drone streaming is another trend that we expect to see in event production, paired with the live broadcast features of social media sites such as Facebook Live and Instagram Live. This will let events achieve game-changing, full-360 degree streaming.
