Director, Meeting + Program Operations |
Year-End Message:
There’s a quote attributed to Dolly Parton that reads: “If your actions create a legacy that inspires others to dream more, learn more, do more, and become more, then you are an excellent leader.” I feel that this aligns with the vision of MPI Georgia to provide “innovative education, networking, and professional development that increases the value of all involved.” I also trust that this board of directors’ legacy means they will be remembered as a group of excellent leaders, of which I am honored to have served as president.
This year, we dreamt more with our educational offering in September and our innovative Tech Summit in March. September’s program was all about the possibility of using laughter in creating programs while March’s focus was on the future and the resources available to take our meetings and events to the next level. We learned more in January talking about the hottest topics in contracting and had a feast in May covering food and beverage with a panel of experts in all fields of our industry. We did more in November on the greens and on the bocce ball courts. We also did more for the industry and the residents of the Covenant House at our December industry luncheon, at Global Meetings Industry Day (GMID,) and throughout the year with our charitable outreach partner. We started the fiscal year off in July becoming more with Rennie Curran’s inspiring story of teamwork, and we became more closely aligned to colleagues and new business opportunities throughout the year at our networking receptions.
Throughout this process, I have been inspired by our membership, our volunteer leaders, our board of directors, our administrative staff, and our generous sponsors. The level of commitment from you all to this chapter and towards our vision has kept me motivated and challenged to ensure we bring you more.
And as I switch seats and support the next board of directors and incoming leadership, I reflect on my more. I’ve dreamt more about opportunities and places that should have been impossible. I’ve learned more about myself and learned from the experts that have been made available to us. I’ve become more knowledgeable about leadership and running an organization. I’ve added more friends and resources worldwide. And I’ve become more grateful and honored than ever before. Thank you.
