Lance Hornecker, CMP, CMM Vice President of Communications MPI Georgia Chapter

Re-Engagement is the word I'm using these days. As a longtime Georgia MPI Member, I've made it my personal and professional mission to stay as involved as possible. From my 7 years on the board (including President), 3 years as Co-Chair of The Phoenix Awards and 2 years as Co-Chair of Eventeract, I've loved every minute of the ride I've been on with Georgia MPI.

As a leader, the lessons I've learned, friends I've made, and skills I've acquired cannot possibly be measured. Priceless! Am I the same leader today that I was 10 years ago? I would argue not as the world is a different place and the path I am currently on remains fluid. Is Georgia MPI the same association today? Definitely not, but we remain a collection of world class meeting professionals. We can just about handle anything as long as we lean on each other.

Back to re-engagement. Recently, I've chosen to return to the Georgia MPI Board. My reasons were simple. To reconnect with my beloved chapter, to learn about what is new, now and next in the world, and to learn new skills that will take me into the next chapter of my career. For me, it's always been about the journey and not the destination.
