If I had to define 2020 in one word it would be purpose. The year of purpose! Webster’s Dictionary defines purpose as “the feeling of being determined to do or achieve something.” It is the goal of what a person is trying to do or become. I chose this word because even in the middle of a pandemic and social unrest, we as meeting professionals still have a purpose in our careers.
However, our vision for our purpose may look a little blurry now but this isn’t anything that we can’t handle. I’m here to remind you that being a meeting professional is one of the most stressful jobs in the world according to Deborah Gardner, who spoke at our 2019 MPI Georgia July Educational Luncheon and I know a lot of you would agree especially during these times.
So what are you doing to continue to walk in your purpose during this time of uncertainty? Are you checking on your MPI Georgia family or preparing for your CMP? Are you attending our virtual networking events or our upcoming hybrid September Educational luncheon with David Adler? Are you updating your resume or working on a new hobby? Most importantly, are you staying positive and cherishing this extra free time with your loved ones?
2020 may feel like the hardest year of our life but don’t throw this year away because it still has a purpose. The best is yet to come!
