New Member Feature Profile: July 2018

Alex Morales, a hospitality veteran of 20-years, gets to work with a wonderful team of individuals that help various organizations execute flawless meetings and events. As the Director of Sales & Marketing with Embassy Suites by Hilton Atlanta Perimeter Center, one of his primary roles is to increase hotel revenue through various channels and platforms. Alex plans to take advantage of the opportunities MPI Georgia provides to meet and converse with so many colleagues and industry professionals.

Here’s a very unique first hotel job: Alex led a team changing the wallpaper at Red Roof Inn locations during a renovation project. He recalls all the planning and hard work required by a multitude of contractors and hotel project teams. That said, Alex also recalls a rookie career mistake when leaving his job as a front desk agent and starting his sales career. He sold magazine subscriptions over the phone before mobile phones and caller ID became prevalent. “I still remember that the office area looked identical to the movie Glengarry Glen Ross…Put that coffee down”.

Alex’s humor and drive to explore uncharted territories is unmistakable. He encourages everyone to “try everything at least twice” and to be open and willing to try new experiences. Alex is taking his own advice and planning a work trip to Australia, France, or Costa Rica. However, his dream vacation would take him out of this world quite literally; Alex would love to stay at the presidential suite in the first hotel in space. But if space travel is unattainable, he would settle for a cruise around the world.
