Crystal Chism, HMCC

MPI Georgia would like to welcome Crystal Chism to our chapter. Her family recently moved to Georgia with her husband’s job and she quickly switched her membership to the Georgia chapter. Crystal originally joined MPI in 2002 while residing in Kentucky and continued her involvement within the Florida and New Jersey chapters. She has heard wonderful things about the Georgia chapter and looks forward to becoming more integrated in the MPI Culture.

When Crystal first entered the hospitality industry in Lexington, Kentucky, she served as the sports liaison for a small Hilton Suites property where nearly 80% of the visiting SEC teams stayed when competing against the University of Kentucky. As an event rookie, she quickly learned that researching your client is critical. “Handling sports first, I didn’t know much about the corporate world. The day came when I was called upon to handle a bit of corporate and one of my first groups to welcome was Frito Lay. My hotel was affiliated with Coca-Cola and Frito Lay can only serve Pepsi products at their meetings. What a scramble!”

Crystal is currently working as a Senior Sales Executive for the Marriott International/Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin in Orlando, Florida serving the Northeast territory and pharmaceutical meetings. As for her present-day work, she is excited to have a FAM in the height of a pandemic. It may be difficult to believe, but Crystal is hosting one-on-one appointments this month with 32 planners. “The feeling of normalcy is beyond welcome at this juncture!”

Crystal has her hands full as a very proud mother of 4 boys. Gaige is 23 and in the Air Force, Roman is her 7th grade athlete, Max is her 5th grade national honor student, and Archer is her 4th grade artist. Crystal and her husband still enjoy their football weekends and though he does not coach college football any longer, it is fun to watch her husband coach Roman. Additionally, her grandparents are still living at ages 92 and 87; Crystal is hopeful for their genes. As we approach the holidays, Crystal admits that she is crazy in love with the Boston Pops Orchestra under Keith Lockhart’s instruction. “He puts on the most entertaining Christmas program I’ve ever attended. I used to see the Christmas concert every year when I lived in Kentucky.”
