Presenter:
Jared Nally, Deputy Tribal Historic Preservation Officer, The Miami Tribe of Oklahoma
Jared grew up in Kansas as part of the Myaamia diaspora created through the forced removal of the tribal government from Myaamionki, or 'the homelands of the Miami. ' The tribe was first removed to Kansas in 1846 before being relocated to present-day Miami, Oklahoma, in 1867. A weaver, who shares his passion of the art of weaving and the Myaamia culture, Jared serves as the Deputy Tribal Historic Preservation Officer and is responsible for the protection and preservation of culturally significant properties of concern to the Miami people and their History.
