Keynote Speaker Roger Rickard presents:       R Rickard Square Headshot
"In the Room Where it Happens" What the broadway hit Hamilton can teach us about Advocacy
The chorus from the song In the Room Where it Happened goes like this:
The room where it happened  No one really knows how the game is played  The art of the trade  How the sausage gets made  We just assume that it happens  But no one else is in  The room where it happens
Have you ever been in the room where it happens? Do you know how to be an effective meetings industry advocate if you are in the room where it happens? Everyone wants their voice to be heard. Sadly, most times it is not. Why – because you may not know what to say or do. We will show you why people fear engaging with elected officials and how to overcome these fears.
This keynote will lay out the plan to make you an even better meetings industry advocate by providing you the tools and strategies of effective communication.
Learning Objectives:
1. Increase your awareness of the diverse areas of advocacy and how they can affect your success.
2. Understand the 7 Actions of Highly Effective Advocates and how to use this knowledge to conduct even better meetings with elected officials.
3. You will leave with successful advocacy tools and strategies that enable you to protect and defend your organization and your issues.
