MPI Potomac Chapter Emerging Professionals Student Membership Scholarship Application

 

 

Benefits of the Scholarship

  • Membership – Recruit students and emerging professionals seeking a career in all areas of Hospitality. MPI Emerging Professionals team will offer a network of business professionals to help guide their career paths.
  • Mentorship – Provide students and emerging  professionals an opportunity to build relationships with professionals from various segments of hospitality working in different capacities to contribute toward professional development.
  • Education – Provide an interactive learninexperience during various MPI events and other E2 events geared towardadding insightful contributions and continued knowledge as it pertains to doing business in the Hospitality Industry.

Key Qualification – All Three conditions must be met to be considered for the scholarship

  1. The scholarship is open to current full time/part time students and emerging professionals (who are current students)**.
  2. It is open to current members and non-members of MPI who are pursuing studies or a career in the event industry (including hospitality, tourism and event management).
  3. Geographical residency in Northern Virginia, Maryland and Washington DC is required. The membership scholarship is only available for the MPI Potomac Chapter. Applicants should demonstrate a strong commitment to the field of event management and show potential for future success through this scholarship.

Membership scholarship eligibility
The student/emerging professional membership term will be for one-year (November 2023 – November 2024).

To be considered for the membership scholarship, students and emerging professionals must meet the following criteria:

1. *Full time: 12 credit hours of classes or higher per semester.

a. Undergraduate Students

· Full time: 12 credit hours of classes or higher per semester.

· Part time: 6 credit hours of classes per semester minimum.

b. Graduate Students:

· Full time: 9 credit hours of classes or higher per semester.

· Part time: 6 credit hours of classes per semester minimum.

2. Sophomore, Junior, or Senior pursuing a major in the hospitality industry.

3. A minimum academic GPA of 3.0 in a 4 point scale.

a. Students must provide a transcript and we will accept the unofficial online transcript.

4. ** The Emerging Meeting professional is defined as all industry professionals with 0-3 years of experience.

5. Submit a complete application packet with all requested information and attachments in PDF format by email to info@mpipotomac.org with subject line MPI Potomac Emerging Professional Scholarship Application:

· Including one letter of recommendation from your faculty advisor

· Resume

· Short Essay

· All completed questions must accompany the application.

6. All recipients will be given the opportunity to be part of MPI Potomac Chapter Committees as a Volunteer/Member.
