Tell us a little bit about your business/company and your current role within the organization.  
I’m a Sales Manager for Global Experience Specialist- GES and I work with associations/ companies on the production of their trade show/ expo. 

Why did you want to become a volunteer for MPIRMC?
Being an active volunteer gives you the opportunity to have an impact on the chapter.

What were you hoping to get out of volunteering within MPIRMC? What have you gotten out of your volunteer role thus far?
I assisted with a volunteer recruitment event with the goal to get more members involved in the chapter. Getting more people involved, allows us to achieve more.

What advice can you give a member that might be apprehensive to commit to a volunteer role within our organization?
My biggest recommendation would be to try a volunteer position that’s outside of what you do for work on a daily basis, it’ll be a little more challenging and will test you to see what your truly capable of. 

How did you get started in the industry?
I got started in the hospitality industry as an assistant wedding planner. 

Are there any mentors you distinctly remember who were supportive of your professional development?
Biggest mentor would be the owner of the wedding planning company I worked for. Within the first two weeks of me starting, we went to every industry networking function and then some and she knew EVERYONE. It was her company, it was her brand, and it was so impressive to see how she connected with everyone and showed me  the importance of networking.

What are three things you wish you knew as you were beginning your career?

  1. Push yourself out of your comfort zone.
  2. Know your competitors.
  3. Don’t hesitate to share an idea.

Children and/or pets or both:  
Plant mom.

Houston- a diverse city with such an entrepreneurial mindset and huge hospitality circle.

Thoughts regarding the industry:  
Events are all about experiences, which I will always prefer over something material. Love that we’re always challenging ourselves to make something that creates a bigger impact on our attendees. Also, love how we’re a family, no matter how long or little you’ve known someone, we get each others struggles and appreciate others success’ and can reach out for help, no matter how long it’s been since we last caught up.

What makes you happy?
The beach, the mountains, good food.

Networking opportunities.

What do you like most about being a planner/supplier?
Offering creative ideas to planners to elevate their annual conference.
