Laura Thomas is the Director Meetings and Member Services for the CA Association of Health Facilities. She is a long time meeting planner but recent self proclaimed emergency preparedness “geek”.

PANELISTS:

Ross Gimpel is Regional VP of Venues for Encore and is responsible for supporting 30+ partner venues throughout Northern California and Nevada. Ross began his Event Technology career as a technician in 1999 and joined PSAV (later Encore) in 2004, holding various operational roles along the way. Ross serves on the Board of the CA Hospitality and Lodging Association and received his MBA from Drexel University in 2011.

Amy Orr has more than 20 years of experience in the event and conference planning industry, specifically with professional and trade associations. Amy began her career in Colorado working for a trade association, the General Merchandise Distributors Association, where she discovered her interest in the conference and event industry. After moving back to California, she held positions at the California Grocers Association and the California Chamber of Commerce. At the California Chamber of Commerce, she managed high-profile Board of Directors meetings, legislative summits, and public affairs events for five years. In 2007, she established her own event planning business, ORRganized Events, which focuses on conference planning and association management. Amy has been an active volunteer with MPISSN and is currently the V.P. Communications. 

Leena Riggs is the Director of Marketing & Partnerships at Visit Ranch Cordova.  Past employers include the Sacramento Kings, Universal Orlando Resort, and Walt Disney World Resort.  Leena has a B.A. in History and an M.S. in Hospitality and Tourism Management.  She serves on the Board of Directors for the Sacramento Children’s Museum and the Government Relations Committee for the Rancho Cordova Chamber of Commerce.  Leena currently serves as Director of Special Events for the MPI Sacramento/ Sierra Nevada chapter and as volunteer co-chair for the Emerging Professionals Advisory Council with MPI Global. Leena has two dogs, a flower garden, and an obsession with coffee.

Alisha Scully, CMP, is the Assistant Director of Sales of the Sacramento Marriott Rancho Cordova.  Past employers include the InterContinental The Clement Monterey, The Exchange Sacramento, and Sacramento State University College of Continuing Education.  Alisha has a B.S. in Hotel Administration from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.  She is currently the Vice President of Membership for the MPI Sacramento/Sierra Nevada chapter.  Alisha lives in Orangevale with her husband, 2-year-old daughter, dog and cat.
