President's Message

August 2020

President’s Message

Is it just me or have we lost all track of time? Keeping track of the day of the week has been challenging lately but how is it August already? I hope you all have enjoyed some time in the sun and maybe even had a vacation before getting your kids ready to go back to school whether virtually or in-person.

Can we get another round of applause for our Be Legendary Award winners from our Week of Legends event? I appreciate everything that our members and volunteers do for our chapter, industry, and destination. In addition, congratulations to all those who have recently won awards from other associations and chapters, we are proud of all your accomplishments. It certainly was not the usual awards season.

As for getting back to a normal, I did make the trip over to Orlando to check out the “Together Again Expo” at the Orange County Convention Center. It was exciting to see an expo in action with new guidelines as well as reconnecting with colleagues. I am looking forward to events getting back up and running as do all of you. We are excited to announce that our chapter will be having our first in person event since February at Solitsville for an After 5 on August 27th. In addition to reconnecting with friends we will be honoring a legend of the industry, Alex Kaptzan with our charity. Please check out the event page to see the safety guidelines that will be in place as safety of our members if our top priority.

We will continue this month with our virtual programming, including our Coffee Talks and After 5's. Our Coffee Talks will feature some special guest “talkers” so stay tuned to see who will be joining us. On August 13th, Renee Radabaugh, our incredible speaker from June and President/CEO of Paragon Events, will be returning to give us part 2 of her session “Master your Crisis Management Playbook like a Pro.” If you missed her in June do not worry, the take a-ways from the session will be beneficial to all. Lastly the MPI Sunshine Education Summit will be going virtual on August 19th for “enVIRTUAL”. You will not want to miss out on the incredible content and networking with your fellow MPI Florida members, plus registration is just $10 for members!
