Experiential Marketers & Designers Overview


A significant portion of the meetings and events industry is composed of agency-based, corporate and independent marketing professionals who design experiential marketing campaigns, activations, product launches, festivals other interactive live event experiences. Within MPI, more than 500 members are marketing professionals, with hundreds more actively subscribing to the event designer creed: “Stop planning meetings. Start designing experiences.” They all are members of our Experiential Marketers and Designers community, and they create truly transformational experiences.

Who is Eligible to Join?

MPI members with marketing, interactive and experiential event design responsibilities, or those who seek to infuse experiential design elements into traditional meetings, conferences and events, are eligible to join MPI’s Experiential Marketers and Designers community.

Experiential Event Series

The MPI Experiential Event Series takes you behind the scenes of the world’s most impressive entertainment, sports, culinary and mega-events and introduces you to the people who produce them, program the content, manage the thousands of volunteers, develop the security and crisis management protocols, set the marketing strategy and design the event experience.

Event Design Certificate

The Event Design Certificate Program is an immersive three-day training course that will innovate the industry by teaching a systematic 10-step visual approach to event design for meeting planners. Program participants will learn critical skills that will enable them to design events based on stakeholder needs and then prototype event designs using the #EventCanvas, a strategic event management template for developing new or documenting existing events and conference models.

Event Marketing Certificate

This training program focuses on the purposeful and measurable practice of deploying live events to help achieve marketing and revenue goals. This program will examine strategies, best practices, and tactics across the full event marketing funnel (from leads to revenue).

Inclusive Event Design

This training program focuses on practical actions that event planners take to create inclusive environments for events. As part of the learning experience, participants will explore the need for inclusion as well as consider what event participants may need in order to fully participate. The actions are couched in the framework of an event planner’s role as an inclusion broker, a professional who intentionally applies various strategies to support the participation of individuals and groups.
