MPI Greater New York Chapter

Marketplace Excellence

The MPI Greater New York Chapter pulled off a stunning event complimentary for chapter members by forging partnerships with their city and community stakeholders while advancing business. All this – at the height of the pandemic in New York City.

It began with MPI Greater New York’s choice to combine their half-day virtual expo with their annual awards ceremony, respectively called the MPIGNY Education & Expo (EdX) and The Genies. Since New York City was one of the cities at the very heart of the difficulties wrought by the pandemic in 2020, their leadership rallied and partnered with The Shubert Organization, American’s oldest professional theatre company, to produce and broadcast an entire event live from Broadway in the middle of Times Square.

The educational programming included breakout sessions on equality, a playbook on virtual events, virtual networking for traditional business goals, as well as virtual networking and advocacy on behalf of event production and the related workers and their industries. Despite the hardships and difficulties, the chapter advanced business exchange and promoted their own professionals in tandem with members of related industries and members of their local community hit hardest by the pandemic.
