According to recent studies, 53% of meeting and event organizers don’t have an event-specific crisis management plan in place. The Essential Guide to Safety and Security provides nearly 400 recommendations for safety and security best practices for meeting and events and may be adapted for meetings large or small. 

Meeting Professionals International (MPI) partnered with the National Center for Spectator Sports Safety and Security (NCS4) at the University of Southern Mississippi to establish these best practices.  

These best practices are the product of Risk Management Conclave discussions, personal interviews, expert vetting and a comprehensive review of literature, including existing security plans and operational procedures, government publications such as the SAFETY ACT, academic research reports and published articles.
