What is MPI doing regarding Safety and Security in Mexico?
As is always our approach with any event, MPI works directly with local, state and federal governments regarding our attendee safety and security. Our destination in Mexico is no different. To that end, we are collaborating and contracting with providers who will ensure participant safety and security throughout all aspects of the event, including secured transportation and onsite protocols within the Barcelo properties. What are the room rates for WEC 2023?
Room rates will range from $214 to $389 per night (plus taxes and fees). This is based on single occupancy and includes all food and beverage. Should you be sharing a room or bringing a guest, there will be a supplemental fee for the room based on the room type and age of the guest.

How will I get from the airport to the hotel?
Please make your arrangements to fly to Cancun International Airport (CUN). You will need to provide us with your flight information and we will have transportation available. This will be roundtrip transportation to the resort. You must go through your registration and include your travel dates and times. Transportation is included in the price of your registration. 

I want to make my hotel reservation but can’t find the hotel links and the hotel website is showing as sold out.
You will need to register for the conference in order to gain access to our housing platform to make your reservation. You will not receive the negotiated rate if you attempt to book directly with the resort.

I would like to bring a guest with me, what are the costs?
If your guest will be traveling with you but not attending any MPI sanctioned events, there is a transportation fee of $75. This includes roundtrip transfer from the airport (CUN).

If your guest will be attending MPI sanctioned events, the guest registration fee is $325 and includes the opening and closing parties as well as roundtrip transfer from the airport (CUN). Guests attending any MPI sanctioned events must be 18+.

I heard that part of the resort is adults only, what if I would like to bring my children?
That is correct, Barcelo Maya is made up of 3 hotels in one resort. The Riviera is adults only, but children are allowed to stay at both Beach & Caribe hotels.

I would like to extend my trip; can I do that?
Of course, we would love for you to stay longer and enjoy everything Riviera Maya has to offer. We will have the conference room rate available for 3 days pre/post the conference (as resort availability allows).

I have a passport and I am ready for WEC 2023!
We are so excited for you to join us. Please ensure that your passport does not expire within 6 months AFTER the date of travel.

I don’t have my passport yet, what should I do?

I’ve never been to an all-inclusive resort before, what should I keep in mind?
If you plan to eat in one of the specialty restaurants there may be additional charges for upgraded alcohol selections.

There is an all-day buffet located on each property.  Hours are subject to change.

All dietary and allergy restrictions will be accommodated.  Please notify your server of specific needs.

What are some items that I should not forget to bring with me?
- Sunscreen (eco-friendly, if possible)
- Insect Repellent (eco-friendly, if possible)
- Sunglasses
- A hat
- Swimwear
- Comfortable Shoes
- Casual and Comfortable clothing
- Resort casual clothing for cocktails and dinner
- Any major medications; enough for your entire stay. Remember to pack these in your carry on.

What are the COVID entry protocols for Mexico?
A negative COVID-19 test (PCR and/or serology) is not required for entry.  Mexico also does not require travelers to be vaccinated to enter the country. In addition, U.S. citizens returning from Mexico to the U.S. are no longer required to provide a negative Covid-9 test prior to departure. 

Passengers and aircrew members arriving at Mexican airports may be subject to health screenings including temperature checks. Those exhibiting symptoms may be subject to additional health screening and/or quarantine.

What is the Dress Code for WEC 2023?
Attire for daytime events is business casual. Attire for networking events is resort casual.

How early should we depart from the hotel to get back to the airport?
As our official transportation provider, AMSTAR recommends departing for the airport 4-5 hours prior to your flight due to construction delays on the way to the airport.  This is to ensure that you arrive at the airport in time to make your flight.  The actual time on the road can be up to 2.5 hours. 

I don’t think that I will need to leave that early for the airport, can I change my shuttle time?
Pick-up times will be suggested by AMSTAR.  If you choose to change your pick-up time, you will need to sign a waiver form indicating that if you miss your flight, neither AMSTAR nor MPI are responsible for any changes in fares, fees, club access, etc. associated with your departure.  AMSTAR will have the waiver form available onsite.

How will I find the transportation when I arrive at the airport?
There will be signs directing you to the MPI transportation; please do not stop at any of the Taxi stands or time share areas on your way to the exit as that is not included in your registration fee and will not be reimbursed by MPI.

I have never been to Mexico, what is the weather like there in June?
The Yucatan peninsula is closer to the equator than most of us are used to. It will be hot, but being on the beach there is typically a good breeze coming off the water. The sun will be strong, so please take care of yourself.

What happens if there is a medical emergency while at the resort?
The Barcelo is equipped with an onsite infirmary as well as there is an emergency room not far from the resort should you need to be transferred.

I am local to Mexico and will be driving, can I park at the resort?
There is parking at the resort that you can use free of charge.

When is check-in/check-out?
Check-in is any time after 3:00 pm and Check-out is any time before Noon.

I am going to need to work while I am there, is there WIFI available?
Yes, there is free WIFI available throughout the resort.

What languages do the staff speak at the resort?
English, Spanish, and French.

What airlines fly to Cancun?

MPI has arranged for some airline discounts to assist in the overall cost of getting to WEC 2023.

I see there is a spa onsite, I would like to relax. How can I book an appointment?
Most people will book an appointment upon arrival. We are pleased to offer conference attendees a 25% discount at the spa when booked upon arrival.

What evenings will MPI be hosting events?
- Tuesday, June 13 – Opening Celebration at Xcaret – Dinner will be provided
- Wednesday, June 14 – Presidents Dinner (Separate Ticket Required) *If you are not attending President’s Dinner, please plan to make reservations upon arrival/check-in. 
- Thursday, June 15 – MPI Foundation Rendezvous Closing Celebration – Dinner will be provided

I have an allergy or dietary restriction, can the hotel accommodate that?
Yes, the hotel can accommodate food allergies and dietary restrictions, please make each server aware at each of the meals.

Will I need to pay for anything extra while on site?
The resort is all-inclusive, but should you want any premium alcohols there will be an upgrade charge.

Will I need to make dining reservations for any of my meals?
If there is somewhere specific that you would like to eat, it is suggested to make any meal reservations upon check in. There is walk up availability, but that will depend on demand.
