Meeting Industry Leadership

Valeria Serrano progressed in her career from hotelier, through sales, and into the meetings industry. She started her own DMC company in 2005 and now operates in 4 destinations across Mexico. She has championed major initiatives with global impact: ‘Your Best Reward’ raised incomes and increased incentive travel in Mexico; ‘VIVE MICE’ generated networking and stronger connections with different destinations; and the AFEET scholarship program promoted gender inclusion and equity. As a volunteer leader, Valeria sat on the board of directors for 2 years at SITE Mexico and became the founding president of MPI Caribe-Mexicano Chapter in 2019, shattering records, where within 3 months of existence, they recruited 52 members. She has forged strategic alliances with the Hotels Associations in Cancun & Riviera Maya, the Quintana Roo Tourism board, and Anahuac University.  She has taken her volunteer commitment global, currently serving as a trustee on the board of the MPI Foundation, and chairing the MPI Foundation LATAM Council in its inaugural year.
