Welcome to the MPI UK & Ireland Chapter!
We are a growing community of over 140 members representing different features of the events industry. Our members are event planners and organisers, partner suppliers to the industry and students who are looking forward to making their career in this innovative and exciting industry. Globally, MPI is the largest meeting and events industry association with over 13,000 engaged members and 64 Chapters and Clubs – 11 of which are here in Europe.
MPIs mission is to connect the global meeting and event community to learn, innovate, collaborate and advocate. Our vision is to lead and empower the meeting and event community to change the world.
The MPI UK & Ireland chapter is committed to supporting our members both personally and professionally through the provision of tools and content to benefit your personal development and in turn, help you produce your best meetings and events. We aim to provide the best networking opportunities, education and experiences to inspire and facilitate impactful connections. We also aim to challenge, and though our collective community, present a forward-thinking association that drives initiatives for the advancement of the meetings and events industry. This year, we are mindful of the impact of the Covid pandemic and how this has deeply affected many of our members. We have taken particular steps to support and protect our members as far as possible through e.g. the introduction of community activity such as a monthly on-line CommuniTEA networking get together, and support with membership renewals from the MPI Foundation.
Becoming an MPI member opens you up to a global community with an estimated buying power of $26 billion. We have an annual global conference (WEC - World Education Congress), an annual European conference (EMEC - European Meetings & Events Conference) and in the UK and Ireland, we host educational, networking and social events across the year. All these opportunities provide engaging content, which can benefit both your personal and professional development, as well as creating openings to make business connections locally and globally through our worldwide network. Events the UK and Ireland Chapter have hosted in the past include our annual MPI Economic Insights event, MPI Connects (connecting businesses with graduates looking for their first role), as well as thought provoking roundtable discussions and fun networking events.
Additional to all the above, you also benefit from 24/7 on demand professional development through the MPI website and have access to findings from Industry Leading research.
For me personally, I have found my home in the MPI UK & Ireland Chapter. You will not only have access to great events and opportunities, but you will also be making connections and friends for life. It is a fantastic community to be part of and you will find support all over the country and indeed the world.
If you are already a member – then congratulations – you have already taken the decision to become involved. You will already know that a rich source of opportunity awaits you when you throw yourself in to being an active member of the chapter.
If you haven’t yet taken the plunge and become a member, please don’t worry – you can speak to one of our membership team or check our events page and come along to an upcoming event where you can chat to other members and find out more about us. The monthly CommuniTEA is an excellent opportunity for this.
Finally, please do not hesitate to contact us with any feedback, thoughts, suggestions or ways in which we can improve our chapter and help you get the most from it.
I hope to meet you soon, either virtually or in person, and look forward to sharing stories about our MPI journey and experiences.
Best regards,
Dan Noyce
President MPI UK & Ireland Chapter
