The Business of Events

The Business of Events (TBOE) returns in November with an expanded programme, including its first international event, The Business of Events Global Policy & Practice Forum created in partnership with IBTM, The Barcelona Convention Bureau and PCMA.

The forum will take place ahead of IBTM World on the 18th November, at the newly opened Hotel Seventy in Barcelona. Regional and national convention bureaux and policy makers from across Europe will come together to discuss how to ensure business events continue to be seen as both economic and strategic policy drivers.

At The Business of Events Senior Leadership Forum in London, the conversation will focus around the Tourism Sector Deal, the UK government’s Industrial Strategy and the International Business Events Action Plan, which was announced in June by former Prime Minister, Theresa May. The forum kicks off the London series of events at its new location, The Mermaid London in Blackfriars on 6th November. A reception will be hosted at the venue following the forum.

The second day of London events will kick off with a PCMA Knowledge Exchange, hosted at The Mermaid London, and will focus on the key issues of doing business in the UK.

Also taking place on the 7th November is the Parliamentary Debate, which returns to Portcullis House. Held in partnership with the APPG for the UK Events Industry, the debate will provide a platform for senior leaders across the sector to discuss key issues and inform parliamentarians of the value and benefits of the business events sector. A private dinner will take place following the debate.

This year’s TBOE Wales Leadership Forum will be held at the brand-new £84m ICC Wales in Newport on 12th November and will focus on building a strong business events community. Attendees will also have a chance to view the country’s new international convention centre. Prior to the event, on the 11th November, there will be an intimate stakeholder dinner also held at ICC Wales.

The final event within the series will take place at the National Museum of Scotland in Edinburgh, where some of the country’s key stakeholders will gather for the TBOE Scotland Senior Leadership Dinner on 26th November.
