Rising costs, particularly of energy, have overtaken staff shortages as the main current challenge for almost 25 per cent of venues according to a recent survey by NFS Technology.

When asked ‘what is currently their biggest challenge’, 24.6 per cent of UK venues managers responded that it was rising costs while 75.4 per cent said staff shortages.

Luis De Souza, CEO of NFS Technology which provides Rendezvous Events venue management software to hundreds of UK venues, commented; “The issue of rising costs has developed rapidly since the end of last year when it was clearly starting to be a major concern. In our regular informal conversations with clients, staff shortages was clearly preoccupying virtually every venue. Now almost a quarter say rising costs are their key issue.

“It’s valuable to quantify and track what the industry is clearly feeling and I expect that when we ask again in a few months, many more venue managers will say rising costs are their primary challenge.”
