Warwick Events: "BAR wanted a conference; we shut down Stratford!"

We’ve all been there; we’ve all said yes to a client who wants the impossible before considering how on earth we go about it. Closing down a town poses its fair share of challenges. Add into the mix the town in question is Stratford upon Avon and the timing is mid-afternoon on a bank holiday Saturday – peak tourist season! You’ll understand that this was the hardest thing we’ve had to do this year, possibly ever.

BAR (British Association of Removers) requested a parade of their removal vehicles to finish off a three day programme of events. As self-confessed ‘anoraks’, to the members of BAR this was the icing on the proverbial cake, while the residents of Stratford got a beautiful display of historical removal vehicles. Stopping the traffic was a parade of sedate, horse drawn carriages, quaint removal trucks and the most high tech, modern removal lorries any house would be privileged to be moved by.

It was complex, challenging, our persuasive skills were put to the test. Right now, we’re patting ourselves on the back but second guessing the next request we receive to which our answer will surely be ‘yes’, swiftly followed by ‘how?’
