These Official Rules apply to the MPI Member Profile Sweepstakes conducted by MPI from Friday October 22nd, 2021 through Monday November 30th, 2021 (the “Promotion” or “Sweepstakes”).
1. Eligibility:
(A) Basic Eligibility Requirements: The Promotion is open only to individuals who are at least twenty one (21) years old at the time of entry. Employees of Meeting Professionals International (“MPI”) or its affiliates, successors-in-interest, advertising, public relations, accounting or legal firms, and the immediate family members or individuals living in the same house hold of such employees, are not eligible to enter the Promotion or win any prize. For purposes of these eligibility rules, “immediate family members” means spouse, children, parents, parents of spouse, siblings, and spouse’s siblings. By entering the Promotion, each entrant fully and unconditionally agrees to be bound by these Official Rules, and MPI’s decisions, which are final and binding in all matters related to the Promotion. Winning a prize is contingent upon fulfilling all requirements set forth herein.
(B) Additional Eligibility Requirements: Prior to being eligible to receive any Prize, an entrant who has been selected as a potential winner of a Prize must provide MPI with any information or certifications needed by MPI, in its sole judgment. Without limiting the foregoing, a person who has been selected as the winner of a Prize may be required to sign a copy of these Official Rules, and to complete and sign (1) a Declaration of Compliance, Liability and Publicity Release (except where prohibited), and (2) any other document MPI determines is required, necessary or appropriate, in its judgment, to confirm the winner’s eligibility and for tax reporting purposes.
Being eligible to participate in the Promotion or receive a Prize is contingent upon compliance with these Official Rules. The Promotion is subject to all applicable federal, state, territorial, municipal, and local laws and regulations. The Promotion is void where prohibited.
2. Sponsor and Administrator: Meeting Professionals International, 2711 LBJ Freeway, Suite 600 Dallas, TX 75234. For purposes of these Official Rules, “Sponsor” and “Administrator” will include any successor-in-interest to this named party.
3. Promotion Entry Period: The Promotion begins on Friday October 22nd, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. Central Daylight Time ("CDT") and ends on Monday November 30th, 2021 at 11:59 p.m. CDT (the "Promotion Period"). MPI’s computer is the official time-keeping device for this Promotion.
4. How to Enter:
(A) Enter by Completing their MPI Member Profile: To enter the Sweepstakes, a person meeting the Basic Eligibility Requirements described above may, during the Promotion Period, complete their personal, member MPI profile. Each person completing their MPI Member profile as directed in the instructions will automatically receive one (1) entry into the Sweepstakes. The entrant must fully complete their profile as described on the Promotion Homepage.
(B) Entering without Completing their MPI Member profile: Any person meeting the Basic Eligibility Requirements described above may enter the Sweepstakes without updating their profile by mailing a postcard to: MPI Sweepstakes, 2711 LBJ Freeway, Suite 600 Dallas, TX 75234. The postcard must include the entrant’s name and a valid email address, and must be received by MPI by no later than November 30, 2021. A person sending a valid postcard entry will receive one (1) entry into the Sweepstakes.
Regardless of the method of entering the Sweepstakes, only one (1) entry is permitted per person. Multiple entrants are not permitted to share the same email address. Any attempt by any person to enter the Sweepstakes more than one (1) time by using multiple/different email addresses, identities, registrations and logins, or any other methods will void that entrant's entries and that entrant may be disqualified. Use of any automated system to participate is prohibited and will result in disqualification. MPI is not responsible for lost, late, incomplete, invalid, unintelligible or misdirected registrations, which will be disqualified.
5. Sweepstakes Drawings – Selection of Potential Winner: MPI will randomly select the potential Prize winners by means of a random drawing from all eligible entries for the Sweepstakes on or around December 10th, 2021.
ALL POTENTIAL WINNERS ARE SUBJECT TO VERIFICATION OF ELIGIBILITY BY MPI, WHOSE DECISIONS ARE FINAL AND BINDING IN ALL MATTERS RELATED TO THE PROMOTION. AN ENTRANT IS NOT A WINNER OF ANY PRIZE, EVEN IF THE PROMOTION SHOULD SO INDICATE, UNLESS AND UNTIL ENTRANT’S ELIGIBILITY, AND THE POTENTIAL WINNER HAVE BEEN VERIFIED AND ENTRANT HAS BEEN NOTIFIED THAT VERIFICATION IS COMPLETE.
Being eligible to participate in the Promotion or receive a Prize is contingent upon compliance with these Official Rules.
MPI will notify by mail, email or phone each potential Prize winner. The potential Prize winner may be required to sign and return a Declaration of Compliance, Liability and Publicity Release and may be required to sign and return other documents requested by MPI, all of which must be received by MPI within three (3) days of the date notice or attempted notice is sent, in order to claim the Prize. At any time, if (i) MPI determines that a person whose submission is selected as a potential winner is not eligible to participate in the Promotion, or (ii) a person whose name is drawn refuses to accept the selection as a winner, or (iii) a person whose name is drawn cannot or does not complete the eligibility requirements described in "Additional Eligibility Requirements" above, including without limitation a failure to sign and return the Declaration of Compliance, Liability and Publicity Release (when applicable) or provide any other requested information within the required time period, or (iv) a person cannot be contacted, then that person will be ineligible to win a Prize. In the event that a potential winner is disqualified or ineligible for any reason, the potential winner(s) forfeits the Prize and MPI will award the Prize to an alternate winner by random drawing from among all remaining eligible entries. Only two (2) alternate drawings will be held, after which the Prize will remain un-awarded.
6. The Prize: MPI will award the first two hundred (200) MPI members to complete their member profile one (1) 40% off membership renewal coupon for Essential, Preferred, Premier or Faculty member levels and 20% off for Student membership level winners. Ten (10) Essential, Premier, Preferred and Faculty members will be entered in a drawing and selected at random to win forty thousand (40,000) Marriott Bonvoy Points, each. Odds of winning will depend on the number of eligible entries made to the Promotion. No cash equivalent and all Prizes are non-transferable and no substitution will be made except as provided herein at MPI’s sole discretion. MPI reserves the right to substitute a Prize for one of equal or greater value if the designated Prize should become unavailable for any reason. The winner is responsible for all taxes and fees associated with Prize receipt and/or use.
7. Additional Agreements/Waivers: By entering the Promotion, each entrant agrees (a) to be bound by these Official Rules and to interpretation of these rules by MPI and (b) to release and hold harmless MPI and its subsidiaries, affiliates, successors-in-interest, suppliers, distributors, advertising/promotion agencies and each of their respective parent companies and each such company’s officers, directors, employees and agents (collectively, the “Released Parties”) from and against any claim or cause of action, including, but not limited to, personal injury, death, or damage to or loss of property, arising out of participation in the Promotion or receipt or use or misuse of any Prize.
8. Publicity: Except as prohibited by law, participation in the Promotion constitutes the winner’s consent to MPI’s and its agents’ use and publication, without further compensation, of the winner’s name, photograph, likeness, voice, opinions, biographical information, and details of winning for advertising, promotional, or regulatory purposes in any media, worldwide, without further payment or consideration.
10. General Conditions: MPI reserves the right to cancel, suspend and/or modify the Promotion, or any part of it, if any fraud, technical failures, human error or any other factor impairs the integrity or proper functioning of the Sweepstakes, as determined by MPI in its sole discretion. In such event, MPI reserves the right to award the Prizes at random from among the eligible entries received up to the time of the impairment. MPI reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to disqualify any individual it finds to be tampering with the entry process or the operation of the Sweepstakes or to be acting in violation of the Official Rules of this or any other promotion or in an unsportsmanlike or disruptive manner. Any attempt by any person to deliberately undermine the legitimate operation of the Sweepstakes may be a violation of criminal and civil law, and, should such an attempt be made, MPI reserves the right to seek damages from any such person to the fullest extent permitted by law. MPI’s failure to enforce any term of these Official Rules shall not constitute a waiver of that provision.
11. Limitations of Liability: The Released Parties are not responsible for: (1) any incorrect or inaccurate information, whether caused by entrants, printing errors or by any of the equipment or programming associated with or utilized in the Promotion; (2) technical failures of any kind, including, but not limited to malfunctions, interruptions, or disconnections in phone lines or network hardware or software; (3) unauthorized human intervention in any part of the entry process or the Promotion; (4) technical or human error which may occur in the administration of the Promotion or the processing of entries; or (5) any injury or damage to persons or property which may be caused, directly or indirectly, in whole or in part, from entrant’s participation in the Promotion or receipt or use or misuse of any Prize. If for any reason an entrant's entry into the Sweepstakes is confirmed to have been erroneously deleted, lost, or otherwise destroyed or corrupted, entrant’s sole remedy is another entry into the Sweepstakes, if possible. No more than the stated number of Prizes will be awarded. In the event that production, technical, seeding, programming or any other reasons cause more than the stated number of Prizes as set forth in these Official Rules to be available and/or claimed, MPI reserves the right to award only the stated number of prizes by a random drawing among all legitimate, unawarded, eligible Prize claims.
12. Disputes: Except where prohibited, entrant agrees that: (1) any and all disputes, claims and causes of action arising out of or connected with this Promotion or any Prize awarded shall be resolved individually, without resort to any form of class action, and exclusively by the appropriate federal or state court located in Dallas County, Texas; (2) any and all claims, judgments and awards shall be limited to actual out-of-pocket costs incurred, including costs associated with entering this Promotion, but in no event attorneys’ fees; and (3) under no circumstances will entrant be permitted to obtain awards for, and entrant hereby waives all rights to claim, indirect, punitive, incidental and consequential damages and any other damages, other than for actual out-of-pocket expenses, and any and all rights to have damages multiplied or otherwise increased. All issues and questions concerning the construction, validity, interpretation and enforceability of these Official Rules, or the rights and obligations of the entrant and MPI in connection with the Promotion, shall be governed by, and construed in accordance with, the laws of the State of Texas, without giving effect to any choice of law or conflict of law rules (whether of the State of Texas or any other jurisdiction), which would cause the application of the laws of any jurisdiction other than the State of Texas.
