Meet our Speaker:

Robert Murdock
President
Connecticut Convention & Sports Bureau (CTMEETINGS)

Robert Murdock is the President of the Connecticut Convention & Sports Bureau (CTMEETINGS). In addition, he serves as its Director of National Accounts & Sports Marketing, the State’s official meetings, conventions and sports event sales and marketing organization.

Murdock also is the Treasurer of the Board of the New England Society of Convention & Visitor Bureaus (NESCVB) and served as its 2019 President. The NESCVB is a cooperative organization comprised of CVBs throughout New England that collectively markets the region as a premier destination for meetings, conventions and sports events, and offers complimentary services to planners. He serves as a Board Member for the Connecticut Lodging Association, is a member of the Executive Committee of the Fairfield County Sports Commission, and is a Board member of the Connecticut Sports Management Group (CSMG). Murdock is a longtime member of Sports ETA (formerly called the National Association of Sports Commissions) and is Connecticut’s representative on the association’s States Committee. In addition, he is the Town of Clinton’s representative to the state’s Central Regional Tourism District and is a member of that town’s Economic Development Commission.

Murdock joined the Connecticut Convention & Sports Bureau in September 2014 as Director of Sports Marketing and later expanded his responsibilities to include marketing for the SMERF and Affinity Groups before being promoted to President in 2019. Previously, he spent seven years as Director of Sales at Destination Worcester, MA, responsible for promoting and selling the City and Central Massachusetts region as a destination for meetings and events. Before that, he was Director of Administration for the Massachusetts Sports Partnership, and was Event & Sales Manager/Director of Business Operations for a variety of Boston-area organizations including professional athletes’ foundations, promotional tours and the World Curling Championship that was held in Lowell, Mass.
