COVID taught me that events is what I was meant to do. I was about a year and a half into being a working professional at the start of COVID, was unable to continue in the events job at the time, but luckily my employer had other needs. So I did grant work for the duration of COVID and while it was rewarding, I just knew it wasn’t for me. Then I got a job at a hotel as an event planner and the rest is history!
Outside of work, I am a board member for Indyhub and Impact 100 and you can catch me out with my friends, going to First Friday art events, attending concerts and shows, and walking/playing with my dog Ruby.
In May of 2023, I worked with Maribeth Smith & Associates to plan the Lieutenant Governor’s First Mental Health Summit this was the largest attended and producing event I have ever worked on in my career.
I think it’s the connections you make with other members at events and the event topics as well. The Indiana Chapter team does a great job of looking at relevant topics that keep folks engaged and can be great learning skill we can implement on a day to day basis.
