Meet Carolyn Browning, CMP, CMM, HMCC (MPI Connecticut Chapter), owner and chief solution strategist for MEETing Needs, MPI’s Volunteer of the Month for June 2026.

How did you get started with MPI?
I joined MPI after moving into a role that included meeting planning and wanting to better understand the industry. Like many meeting professionals, I never set out to become a planner—it was something I was naturally drawn to. MPI helped turn that interest into a career and a community.
What’s your history of volunteering with MPI?
My volunteer journey began with the MPI WestField Chapter, where I joined the Education Committee and quickly became involved in leadership. Over the years, I served in several board roles, including as chapter president, before moving into leadership development and training. Today, I continue to support chapter leaders through the Chapter and Membership Advisory Council, the Verified Facilitator Program and educational sessions at MPI events.
What’s one of your favorite aspects of the MPI community?
It truly feels like a family. There is something special about being surrounded by people who understand the challenges, opportunities and rewards of our profession. The encouragement of MPI colleagues gave me the confidence to start my own business, and many of the relationships I built through MPI continue to shape my career today.
What is one thing the meeting and event industry needs right now?
We need to continue creating opportunities for meaningful connection. Information is everywhere, but bringing people together to share experiences, challenge ideas, solve problems and learn from one another is what makes meetings valuable. The real magic happens in the conversations between the sessions.
