New and Renovated Properties: April 2021

A glance at select meeting venue openings and renovations from the past month. 

ARIZONA

The 90-suite Residence Inn by Marriott hotel in Sedona, Ariz., is now open. The all-suite hotel includes 550 square feet of meeting space.

CALIFORNIA

The Alila Marea Beach Resort Encinitas opened last month—the brand’s first new-build in the Americas—with 130 guest rooms and more than 28,500 square feet of meeting and event space.

The 396-room Ritz-Carlton, Laguna Niguel has completed a renovation of its guestrooms, suites and the club-level Lounge.

The Monsaraz San Diego, Tapestry Collection by Hilton opens this summer—the first new hotel to open in Point Loma, in more than a decade. It will include a 4,000-square-foot courtyard and 800 square feet of indoor meeting space.

FLORIDA

The Conrad Orlando, a luxury Hilton Resort, broke ground last month near Disney World. When opened in 2023, the property will offer 433 guest rooms.

The Ray in Delray Beach is scheduled to open this summer with 141 smart guest rooms with balconies, a 20,000-square-foot pool deck and lounge and a floating-glass-cube event space, available for up to 458 guests.

The Mandarin Oriental in Boca Raton will debut in late 2021 with 158 guest rooms and a 4,500-square-foot ballroom.

In West Palm Beach, the Banyan Cay Resort & Golf is slated to open in early 2022 with 150 guest rooms and suites and a 5,000-square-foot spa.

GEORGIA

The Savannah Convention Center (shown at top) has begun a $271 million expansion project that will double the exhibit hall space to 200,000 square feet, add a 58-foot-wide glass hangar door, construct a 40,000-square-foot ballroom and add 15 additional meeting rooms and a 900-space on-site parking garage. It is scheduled for completion in 2023.

HAWAII

The Hyatt Regency Maui Resort and Spa has completed a multimillion-dollar renovation to its 810 guest rooms including 31 suites and its lobby. The property also offers more than 100,000 square feet of event space.

Turtle Bay Resort is set to reopen this summer after a major renovation. The North Shore property, set on 1,300 oceanfront acres, includes 410 guest rooms.

ILLINOIS

Sable at Navy Pier opened last month as the first hotel to break ground on one of Chicago’s most iconic landmarks. The property offers 223 guest rooms and suites.

The Forester Hotel, the world’s first boutique-inspired Hyatt Place property, is the first hotel to open in Chicago’s North Shore suburb of Lake Forest in 92 years. It features 4,500 square feet of flexible event space and 156 guest rooms.

MASSACHUSETTS

The dual-branded Hampton Inn and Homewood Suites by Hilton property in Boston’s Seaport District is now open with 416 rooms and more than 6,000 square feet of meeting space.

MEXICO

The 2,000-acre luxury resort Las Alamandas has reopened in Jalisco following a major renovation.

NORTH CAROLINA

The 6.6-acre North Waterfront Park and Amphitheater is scheduled to open this summer in Wilmington’s Convention District and will be able to accommodate more than 6,000 people.

SOUTH CAROLINA

The Hotel Florence opened in February, following a renovation and conversion, with 2,900 square feet of meeting space.

TEXAS

The Hilton Garden Inn Austin University Capitol District will offer 214 rooms, 3,000 square feet of meeting and event space and meet the criteria for Austin Energy Green Building 2 Start Status when it opens this summer.

Hotel Drover, an Autograph Collection hotel, opened last month in the heart of the Fort Worth Stockyards’ National Historic District. The property offers 200 luxury guest rooms and almost 40,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor meeting and event space.

VIRGINIA

The Delta Hotels by Marriott Virginia Beach Bayfront Suites opened in March with 295 suites and more than 12,000 square feet of meeting and event space on the Chesapeake Bay.  

WASHINGTON, D.C.

The 231-room Ven at Embassy Row, Washington, D.C., a Tribute Portfolio Hotel, debuted last month with three flexible meeting spaces suitable for intimate groups.

The Schuyler, a transformed Masonic building constructed in 1929, has opened as a 12,000-square-foot event space. 

WISCONSIN

Resch Expo Green Bay Wisconsin
The $93 million Resch Expo opened last month in Green Bay. The venue boasts 125,000 square feet of floor space, with another 135,000 square feet of pre-function, meeting, networking and outdoor plaza space.
