Join us at Sweetgrass Lodge as we review foundational knowledge including terminology, a brief history, and explore what it means to be a part of Reconciliation between Indigenous and non-Indigenous people.

We will also take a deep dive into working with Indigenous Artists, Vendors, and Business Owners when planning events and conferences.

Lastly, we will review cultural protocol and practice to ensure that building these working relationships are positive and contribute to Reconciliation
in practice.

A Cree Metis from Manitoba and a Member of the Metis Nation of Alberta, Gregory John has spent a lifetime immersing himself in Indigenous culture and community. He grew up under the spiritual influence of his adopted family on the Siksika First Nation in Southern Alberta.

Gregory spent almost a decade in the extractive and utilities industries where he worked in Indigenous relations, community investment, and local and Indigenous economic development roles. These opportunities allowed him to work on infrastructure mega projects and helpedhim build his understanding of complex Indigenous issues and, more importantly, how to discuss them in a proactive, respectful, and intentional manner.

Since then, he has founded two companies that take his skills from across his career in creating impact through fund development for not-for-profits, primarily focused around LGBTQ2+ and Indigenous organizations. The other, a technology company, will help transform an antiquated system within the event and hotel space with technological innovation

Gregory is excited to share his knowledge and experiences with MPI and its members, with the hopes of empowering each participant with information and ways for each of us to contribute and participate In Reconciliation between Indigenous and non-Indigenous communities.
