The Ultimate GLES Review

The MPI Indiana, Michigan, and Wisconsin Chapters’ event professionals and suppliers gathered for the MPI 2022 Great Lakes Education Summit (GLES). Tucked away in the snowy woodlands and gleaming waters of Lake Geneva, WI, this year’s GLES was anything but forgettable. Amidst the stunning views and a charming lakeside town was an extraordinary group of people and an incredible wealth of knowledge ready to be engaged in.

A brief overview of this summit’s highlights include:

  • A handful of influential keynotes
  • An array of enlightening sessions
  • A variation of ravishing atmospheres

Keynotes

Memorable and useful keynotes were in abundance this year. While great content is always a great cushion, powerful and genuine speakers presenting it fosters concepts that you can nurture following a talk. The speakers at GLES had amazing tips for navigating through many popular initiatives. From learning how to make more productive use of your time to showing more candor in how your present yourself on social media platforms.

A few takeaways from these keynotes:

  • We all know sometimes you need to eat the frog, but utilizing daily strategies proven to help not hurt make it easier to align your time management portfolio.
  • Boosting equitable systems fosters an inclusive procurement strategy that helps everyone involved.
  • Selling yourself is taken to a whole new level when you learn to promote your brand and grounding your actions in consistent transparency.
  • Battling the new reality of events means looking at projections and adopting flexibility along the course

Sessions

The array of sessions provided us with loads of diverse content to cover any and all interests. From figuring out what’s keeping you up at night to setting effective yet transparent boundaries, the mass of information showcased the growth of the speakers and the dedication of the lifelong learners participating.

A few spotlights picked from these breakouts:

  • Being able to leverage your talents and communicate effectively will wield you the secret to getting what you really want.
  • Developing your emotional intelligence will lead you to worthwhile “Yes, and” conversations to set professional boundaries.
  • Utilizing locally sourced foods not only benefits health and wellness, but also catalyzes community connection.

Atmosphere

The atmosphere developed for GLES was one for the books. We were first meet with a stunning sunset cruise on Lake Geneva and a wonderful reception at the gorgeous Riveria Ballroom. Following that evening, we got our first taste of the Grand Geneva resort’s wonderful event space. Rolling into the evening with a funky fun 80’s night at the ski chalet was the cherry on top. Day two provided no less of the top-notch space at the resort as we rounded out the last few sessions and keynotes. We were welcomed with a light cover of snowfall, warm hosts, and a much-needed energy boost kit. What better places to spend our crucial networking time than in this collection of outstanding spots. The atmosphere cultivated for this event is as much of an indicator of our care into our profession as much as it is the compassion, we have for each other. It emits a pride of the industry and those involved in all aspects of the community that was remarkably showcased for this summit.

GLES gave us thrilling keynotes that left us in an awe of inspiration. In-depth sessions that drew out the need-to-know aching questions. And provided extraordinary venues that nourished both equally fun and productive networking. Wrapping up 2022 with this summit was the perfect was to round out this year’s accomplishments and hardships. Not only does it give us a boost of new information and connections to ride into the new year, but it also encourages us to be grateful for support along the way no matter what we run into. This industry gracefully combines the ability connect with individuals across the world and lean on those closest to you as well.

Missed out this year? Go ahead and mark your calendars now for the 2023 Great Lakes Education Summit in Grand Rapids, MI November 12-14, 2023.
