Winning with AI: How MPI Indiana Members Are Putting Artificial Intelligence to Work

Artificial Intelligence (AI) has quickly become more than just a buzzword—it’s a real tool event professionals (and many other industries) are using every day to work smarter, not harder. From streamlining communications to sparking creativity, AI is helping planners and suppliers alike save time and enhance the attendee experience. And for those still hesitant to try it—using AI isn’t cheating or stealing ideas; it’s simply another resource to help you think differently, stay organized, and work more efficiently.

We asked a few MPI Indiana members how they’re using AI in their work, and their responses show just how versatile these tools can be.

Sarah Castle, Event Services Specialist at the IU School of Medicine, turns to AI for practical, behind-the-scenes support—everything from organizing event timelines and refining email clarity to creating task lists from her “brain dumps.” She even uses it to compare options and review data, helping her catch things she might have otherwise missed.

Jaime Smith, CMP, Business Development Executive with EventEQ, uses AI to stay ahead of the curve. It’s her go-to tool for mapping out presentations, writing articles, and exploring new topics for client discussions.

And Paul Bierman, CMP, Director of Education & Events, keeps things efficient by using AI to generate first drafts of session descriptions and emails—saving time while keeping his message professional and on point.

Among the ways these three members are using AI, we found a variety of other uses across the industry as well—including writing educational programs and content, generating images, synthesizing data, and even creating budgets, just to name a few. The possibilities are growing every day, and the best part is that these tools can be customized to fit your needs and comfort level.

These members span three generations and different levels of tech comfort, yet all have found ways to make AI part of their work. It’s a great reminder that it’s not about being the first to use AI—it’s about being willing to learn how it can make your work more effective.
