Today, across the world, there are over 40 million people who are living in some form of modern-day slavery. Women and young girls account for 71% of all modern-day slavery victims.

Children make up 25% and account for 10 million of all victims of slavery worldwide. Some of these children live in your state, your town, and on your street. Yes, New Mexico, even here. This presentation examines the human trafficking issue in the state of New Mexico and its relationship to the hospitality industry. Hotels are one of many venues that traffickers use for their exploits. As a result, industry leaders are encouraged to recognize the unique role they play in identification, prevention and disrupting this crime.

After the program, attendees will be able to:

Describe what human trafficking is

Identify the relationship to the hospitality industry

Recognize warning signs

MPI Members $30
MPI Students $25

Non-Member Students $25
Non-Members $45
Drink tickets $5/glass (wine only)

This program is pending approval for 1.00 clock hour

The popular MPI-NM Wine Pull is back, so bring your wallets to purchase tickets. What is a wine pull? Tickets are sold for the opportunity to choose a random bottle of wine from gracious donors. Each bottle will be concealed so that you have no idea which bottle you are pulling. Bottles range in price, so depending on your luck, you might leave with a bottle that costs less than the amount of tickets you purchased or is priced significantly higher than what you paid. It’s a game of chance with a tempting prize!

The drawings will take place after the education program. $5.00 per raffle ticket or three (3) raffle tickets for $10.00. You can pre-purchase tickets during the registration process or checks, cash or credit cards accepted onsite as payment. You must be present to win.
