Stand Up For Inclusion: A Mindful Dialogue

August 23, 2022
3:30 PM - 7:30 PM
MPI Southern California Chapter

This event has been canceled.

When someone is described as being mindful, it typically means they pay attention to what is happening to the mind, body, and surroundings, and they remain present while both curious and compassionate.

What are mindful dialogues and how can this be applied to discussions of inclusion?

One of the best definitions comes from Dr. Shauna Shapiro (2020):
“Mindful dialogues help us see clearly so we can make wise choices and respond to life effectively.”

Many of us have been engaging in inclusion sessions where we are learning about topics such as unconscious bias, social identity, and allyship. 'Mindful Dialogues' will give attendees the opportunity to have critical conversations that will give them the opportunity to take the time to listen, exchange ideas, and be moved to take action towards change. Mindful dialogues allow participants to explore others’ perspectives and understand how the choices they make have an impact on others. This session will support prior learning and development initiatives to help leaders truly understand how to lead inclusively. Guided by interactive activities, practical scenarios, and group discussions, 'Mindful Dialogues' will create a safe space for participants to gain more self-awareness, minimize blind spots, and encourage leaders to engage in these 'Mindful Dialogues' internally and externally to help create a culture of inclusion at their respective organizations.

This event is approved for 1 CEU credit.
