How do you take care of yourself?
With articles in MPI publications recently including “Event Professionals are Being Pushed to the Limit” and “Event Security Reminder: Don’t Let Your Attendees Lose It” proving that now is not an easy time to be an event professional, having a deliberate plan on how you’re going to take care of yourself is important.
You probably expect me to talk about nutrition, sleep, exercise – you know, wellness. And don’t get me wrong – those are important – but today I want to talk about something else.
Being active in the MPI Texas Hill Country Chapter has always been an important part of how I take care of myself as a meeting planner. When numbers aren’t happening like they’re supposed to, or I’m being asked to deliver something that I know is going to be difficult, having a group of colleagues who speak my language and truly understand is invaluable.
Earning my CMP and seeking out additional education has always given me confidence as a meeting planner, and we work in an industry where having confidence is absolutely crucial.
With the CMP Study Group kicking off on Wednesday, September 3 and the Texas Education Conference scheduled for November 12-14, MPI THCC has a Fall full of fantastic education opportunities, sure to deepen your industry connections and boost your confidence through outstanding education.
And that, friends, is a mighty good start to taking care of yourself.
