President's Message

Inside Look From the President - March 2021

By: Meaghan Rhame, CMP | Mar 17, 2021

Spring is arriving in a matter of days, and I’m looking forward to all of the fresh ideas and events your MPI THCC leadership has curated for you. Although we may continue hosting virtual events, we are looking forward to an in-person end-of-year celebration on June 10. Throughout this past year, you each have accomplished so much individually and collectively.

Martin Luther King Jr. said, “The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he stands in moments of challenge and controversy.”

Through this pandemic, which has impacted the events industry we love and support, you have all shined bright, remained positive, turned to one another to challenge and support each other and accomplished many things! This year may have been a challenging one to say the least, but we have overcome it and will continue to do so through this local community of event professionals.

This spring and summer will be filled with celebrations, one-of-a-kind experiences and education to keep you informed of the event industry’s recovery, expanding your knowledge of current and upcoming industry trends and connecting you with local members. History has found that we can accomplish much individually, but we have accomplished greater change collectively.

This month, we celebrate women! We celebrate those who have come before, paving the way for policy inclusion and rights. We celebrate women amongst us now, from entry level to the grandeur national representation, who encourage us all to grow beyond our current knowledge and do better. And we celebrate the next generation of women, who will be shaped by all of us, as they progress efforts beyond what is currently imaginable.

I hope you’re as inspired by the following quotes as I have been:

“For most of history, anonymous was a woman.” - Virginia Woolf

“Each time a woman stands up for herself, without knowing it possibly, without claiming it, she stands up for all women.” - Maya Angelou

“You must never be fearful about what you are doing when it is right.” - Rosa Parks

“Every woman’s success should be an inspiration to another. We’re strongest when we cheer each other on.” - Serena Williams
I hope you will join us throughout this season of celebration, renewal and growth!
