I’m sitting at our Mid-Winter Board of Directors retreat at the beautiful Carter Creek Winery & Resort in Johnson City as I write this month’s message. Our weekend began Friday evening with a hosted reception, followed by a wine pairing dinner, by Carter Creek Winery. The food, the wine pairings, and the details regarding the history of the wine grapes made for a fun and unique evening. Serving on the MPI board does have some fantastic benefits!
As I look around the U-shape conference table during our Saturday meeting, I am truly in amazement of the talented individuals on the MPI board. We have meeting planners, association executives, business owners, and suppliers sharing many new ideas and great suggestions that have me so excited about the future of this MPI chapter. The dedication of this board, being here in person, and giving up their weekend to make things happen for MPI THCC speaks volumes! It speaks, not only to the passion and dedication these industry leaders have for conferences, trade shows and events, it speaks to incredible circumstances, considering we are still easing back into attending educational meetings and networking opportunities that are vital to those career building, business to business, in-person events, that we lost out on and so dearly missed during the pandemic.
If you’re sitting at your desk and reading this and wondering how best to get involved, then please reach out to the chapter today. We’re currently accepting board applications for the next leadership term that begins in June, and no previous board experience is necessary. Make a career enhancing commitment for yourself by joining the board to be a part of the future and challenge yourself to make your mark on the meetings world. Plus, make great connections, lifelong friends, and gain experiences you can use immediately in your job. It’s a new year, see your future and make it happen!
