The MPI Foundation is proud to share the development of the

JENNIFER BEATTY LEGACY ENDOWMENT!

Jennifer Beatty, a past MPI Foundation Global Board of Trustees chair and MPI International Board of Directors member who served in executive leadership roles for Canadian tourism marketing organizations for nearly 20 years, has passed away following a courageous battle with inflammatory breast cancer.

“Jennifer was a passionate MPI champion,” says Kevin Kirby, executive director of the MPI Foundation. “She had an unwavering love of all things Canadian and felt so much at home around those in this industry. Her openness about her journey and ability to use meeting face to face to discuss the disconnect within the Canadian medical community about inflammatory breast cancer will remain part of her legacy. We’ll miss her heart and humor in all that we do supporting the MPI Foundation!”

Paul Van Deventer, MPI president and CEO, says Jennifer’s “impact as a servant leader and as a person will endure in so many ways, but especially in the relationships she built, the lives she touched and the people she inspired.”

The MPI Foundation created the Jennifer Beatty Legacy Endowment to support her vision for growth in our industry. To date, we have achieved over US$59,000 to help support giving back by visiting her website. All donations are appreciated.

WHAT IT IS:

The endowment will offer two (2) scholarships CN $2,000 to attend future MPI World Education Congress events and MPI’s Canada-centric conference theEVENT to Canadian suppliers and planners exclusively.

The scholarships are offered in perpetuity to honor our past MPI Ottawa Chapter president, past MPI Ottawa Mentor of the Year, Past MPI Foundation Global Board of Trustee’s Chair, and MPI International Board of Director member, Jennifer Beatty.

MATCHING FUNDS:

The MPI Foundation has contributed US $20,000 to this endowment. The fund is available for annual support from any individual or organization, forever assisting Canadian meeting and event professionals.

WHY WE ARE DOING IT:

Jennifer Beatty sought to support meaningful engagement for and by Canadians in the meeting & events industry. Her professional journey included representing Canadian destinations, corporations, and Canada’s own tourism association. Her professional network was complemented by volunteering on countless industry and association committees, councils, and boards.

In June 2023, Jennifer discovered she had breast cancer.

Her medical journey has been a case study in understanding the challenges in treatment of metastatic triple negative inflammatory breast cancer.

Yet, with every reason to withdraw, she handled her life's journey on her terms. On October 31, 2025 at the Fairmont Chateau Laurier in Ottawa, she collaborated to create a fundraiser to support both breast cancer research and the MPI Foundation.

The MPI community and our industry at large are amongst the most giving and caring professionals across the globe. We want to honor her legacy by creating an endowment that serves her fellow Canadians in perpetuity.
