MPI Foundation: Forging connections, engaging the community

Rebecca DeLuca, chair-elect of the MPI Foundation Global Board of Trustees, says focusing on the "I" in MPI has been a major highlight during her volunteer tenure with the MPI Foundation, which is celebrating its 40th anniversary this year.

Rebecca DeLuca, chair-elect of the MPI Foundation Global Board of Trustees, says focusing on the "I" in MPI has been a major highlight during her volunteer tenure with the MPI Foundation, which is celebrating its 40th anniversary this year.

Collaborating closely with the international Foundation Councils has been an exciting chance to meet new colleagues, expand my network and see the impactful work of the MPI Foundation across the globe," says DeLuca, vice president of destination sales for the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority. "I always look forward to attending the European Meetings & Events Conference, as it offers the opportunity to explore new destinations, forge new connections and reconnect with peers."

DeLuca is particularly proud of the fresh, engaging and memorable fundraising events recently curated for the Foundation such as "Golf, Gather, Give Back" golf tournaments held at WEC 2023 in Cancun, IMEX America in 2023 and again at IMEX America in 2024.

"We’re also introducing a TopGolf Foundation event this year, which is designed to appeal to both golfers and non-golfers. These events have been a refreshing way to raise funds for the Foundation while fostering connections among MPI members. Our Pickleball tournament at WEC Louisville this past May is a great example of a fun, interactive way to support the Foundation and engage with MPI peers," she says. "I believe we’ll continue to see more opportunities and experiences tied to larger industry events that benefit the MPI Foundation. Additionally, the Chapter Contribution program has seen significant growth over the past 18 months, and it’s gratifying to witness our chapters recognizing the value of the MPI Foundation and our mission to support MPI members at various career stages.”

Serving at the chapter leadership level and then joining the MPI Foundation board has been a standout achievement in DeLuca’s career.

"Collaborating with an international board and a team of high-caliber professionals has significantly enhanced my growth, from refining my business acumen to developing leadership skills and mastering strategic planning," she says. "Being surrounded by inspiring trailblazers and innovators has driven me to excel in every facet of my work. My involvement with the MPI Foundation has made me a better leader, industry advocate and individual overall."
