Filling your personal cup

Hotel spa managers agree: spa treatments and group wellness activities can enhance event experiences—and help attendees achieve a positive state of mind.

While spa days can, of course, be about indulging, they are much more about promoting wellness, self-care and positive mental health, according to Joy Matti, hospitality services director, Las Vegas for Caesars Entertainment.

"Our spas offer guests healthy choices that can also feel indulgent at the same time," Matti says. "We offer positivity journals where guests can share words of encouragement with future guests or write a message to themselves in the lounges at Reflections, The Spa at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino and Voie Spa & Salon at Paris Las Vegas. Unique and fun scented showers promote relaxation at Voie Spa & Salon and The Spa at Harrah’s Las Vegas. Lastly, we incorporate positive mantras and offer them to clients after a service to uplift the soul."

Caesars Entertainment offers one of the most popular spa experiences on the Las Ve gas Strip at Qua Baths & Spa, located in the heart of Caesars Palace. Qua, which features three Roman-inspired baths and invigorating crisp air in the Artic Ice room, was included on Travel + Leisure’s "11 of the Best Spas in Las Vegas" list in 2024. "What better way to recover from a Vegas night out than a massage and a refreshing dip in the spa’s Roman baths?" wrote Senior Editor Elizabeth Rhodes.

In Atlantic City, N.J., Jackie Shoemaker, spa manager for Caesars Entertainment Atlantic City, says Caesars Entertainment spas there also incorporate therapies that address specific health concerns, whether it be stress management, sleep issues or skin conditions.

"We employ certified therapists who have expertise in various wellness modalities so we can offer services targeted for wellness and so they can also share best practices with our guests to use after they leave the spa," she says. "Providing an at-home product recommendation is also an important part of our guests’ journeys, as we want them to be able to continue taking care of themselves between their visits with us."

ULTIMATE RELAXATION

Matti and Shoemaker both recommend a CBD massage for stressful meeting attendees taking time out for a wellness break.

"A CBD massage delivers deep relaxation, deep muscle and fascia release, pain relief, hydration and more," Shoemaker says. "It is the gold standard in providing ultimate relaxation that can last hours after you leave the spa."

A CBD massage is a great way to calm the mind, reduce tension and assist with blood flow throughout the body, according to Matti.

"Combining the massage with the powerful healing properties of CBD is a natural way to provide the body with anti-inflammatory pain relief," she says. "I also recommend a facial if massages aren’t preferred or a guest is deciding between two treatments. As a reminder, skin health is wellness. A customized facial also offers many benefits, such as cleansing and clearing congested skin, promoting anti-aging and bringing relaxation."

The key to ensuring you take advantage of spa wellness during a busy conference is careful advance planning, according to Matti.

"This way, downtime between meetings and events can be used to one’s advantage," she says. "Many spas offer quick, 25-minute treatments. Although they are short, they still provide major benefits. Spa facility passes are also great ways to relax for a few hours away from the hotel room or meeting spaces. These offerings allow attendees to disconnect and refresh the mind and body. Saunas, steam rooms, hot tubs and other experience rooms offer wellness benefits such as improved circulation, cardiovascular health and respiratory relief."

WHAT THE BODY NEEDS

Early planning is also key for meeting planners wanting to build customized spa packages or offerings tailored for their groups, Shoemaker says, noting that special rates and experiences are offered to groups, such as a recent, well-received yoga-on-the-beach activity.

Caesars Entertainment’s Las Vegas spa locations offer "Spa Squad Events" that allow attendees to take time away from conference schedules and connect with each other in a positive, wellness-driven way, Matti says.

"Guests can enjoy healthy lunches and appetizer trays, along with a spa treatment and a take-home gift bag," she says. "These events also offer private use of the spa facilities for the group. Spa parties are a nice way for companies to promote wellness and balance on their teams and carve out time together, even if it’s as short as two hours."

Ultimately, spa visits can play a role in one’s approach to maintaining overall well-being, Shoemaker says.
