Caesars Entertainment has firmly established itself as a thought leader in the wellness space. Can you give us some examples of that wellness philosophy in action?
KGS: We are committed to integrating wellness into every aspect of our operations, from events and menu offerings in our convention spaces to training our staff to support meeting planners’ visions for balanced events. Our inaugural Global Wellness Forum in June marked the beginning of what we intend to be an annual signature event.
We actively promote wellness through internal fitness challenges and provide our teams with training on stress reduction and management techniques. Additionally, we cater to the sober-curious attendee by offering zero-proof botanical drinks, ensuring a comprehensive wellness experience for all our guests. We are not just talking about wellness—we are living it, supported by our company’s initiatives and culture.
You believe in mindful, deliberate practices that significantly contribute to your overall wellness, both during travel and in daily life. Can you share some of these practices?
KGS: I choose to take the stairs instead of elevators to stay active. I designate one day of travel to eating vegetarian meals, which helps me feel lighter and more energized. I practice mindful eating, watch portion sizes and listen to my body’s hunger cues to avoid overeating. Additionally, I dedicate 10 minutes each day to breathwork, which effectively reduces stress and keeps me centered. Starting my day with a meditation session sets a positive tone and enhances my focus throughout the day.
As we begin a new year, what are you looking forward to in terms of continuing to break the stigma that often surrounds prioritizing physical and mental health, which we know is important to you?
KGS: I am enthusiastic about seeing other brands join us in embracing the wellness journey through activities such as somatic breathwork, sound baths and yoga. I am proud of Caesars Entertainment for courageously moving beyond the stereotypical perceptions of our brand. We recognize that health and productivity are intrinsically linked, and we are committed to providing options for our teams and planners. Incorporating wellness into events not only fosters a sense of community but also significantly boosts engagement. With Gen Z and millennials at the forefront, wellness has become a key expectation for gatherings.
You’ve said that cultivating connections through teamwork is something that inspires you daily. Tell us what that looks like at Caesars Entertainment.
KGS: Building strong relationships is at the heart of our success. We are a powerhouse of professionals spread across the country, and I take immense pride in regularly engaging with my team. Their achievements are my achievements! I love hearing about their challenges, strategies and triumphs, whether personal or professional. Sending notes of encouragement and gratitude is a vital part of keeping our remote team motivated and engaged. Wellness is more than a feel-good option; it fosters engagement for our teams and for attendees. It helps build community. Overall satisfaction increases which is impactful on so many levels.
Why is nurturing the next generation of hospitality professionals so important to you?
KGS: It’s likely influenced by my experience as a parent to two teenagers who are contemplating their futures. I am immensely grateful to those who mentored and trusted me throughout my career, and I am committed to paying that forward. My greatest fulfillment comes from positively impacting the lives of others, and I aspire to be a guiding force for many in the years to come. Ultimately, the legacy of lives I have touched and improved is what matters most to me.
Why do you believe in being open to trying new things and be willing to fail, especially for young professionals just starting out?
KGS: Avoid idealizing a specific vision of success. When you do encounter failure, understand that it is a natural part of the learning process and that everything will be okay. The most valuable lessons and the ones that stay with us are often the result of our failures. Embrace them as opportunities for growth and development.
