Embracing gratitude, opportunity

Rebecca DeLuca, 2025 chair, MPI Foundation Global Board of Trustees

By Michael Pinchera

As I step into my role as chair of the MPI Foundation’s Global Board of Trustees (GBOT), I am filled with excitement and gratitude for the incredible community we have built within the hospitality and meeting industry.

This year, my focus will be on amplifying the Foundation’s commitment to providing grants and scholarships that support our members and chapters. Financial support is not just a lifeline; it’s an opportunity for growth, innovation and advancement in our vibrant industry.

MPI is an international community that touches the lives of professionals around the globe. Our diverse membership enriches the event landscape, bringing together perspectives and ideas from every corner of the world. This global connectivity is further exemplified by our talented GBOT, which represents the U.S., Canada, Latin America and EMEA. Their diverse experiences and insights play a crucial role in guiding our initiatives and ensuring that we serve our global community effectively.

The meeting and event industry is a truly special place to work, characterized by its positivity and camaraderie. Every day, we create experiences that bring people together, and it’s important to remember that our ability to do this relies on the strength and support of our community. This support manifests in many ways—whether through financial aid for membership, professional development or funding for local chapter initiatives. As we look ahead, I am committed to ensuring that our grants and scholarships reach those who can benefit from them the most and sharing those stories with you.

I would be remiss if I did not take a moment to acknowledge the outstanding leadership of 2024 GBOT Chair Susie Townsend and Immediate-Past Chair Jennifer Beatty. Their vision and passion have not only guided us through challenging times but have also paved the way for a promising future. Thank you, Susie and Jennifer, for your unwavering commitment to our mission and your dedication to fostering a supportive environment for all MPI members.

Looking ahead, I am optimistic about the Foundation’s future. Financially healthy and ready to embrace new opportunities, we are well-positioned to make a significant impact in the lives of our members. Our focus on grants and scholarships will empower individuals and chapters, enabling them to thrive in a rapidly evolving landscape. I urge each of you to consider how you can contribute to this vital mission—whether through personal or organization donations, mentorship or simply sharing your experiences.

In this coming year, let us all embrace a spirit of gratitude. Reflect on the support you’ve received throughout your career and consider how you can pay it forward. Together, we can strengthen the MPI community, ensuring that it remains a beacon of positivity and opportunity for all who are part of it.

I am excited to engage with you all in this journey and have some fun together! Let’s collaborate, innovate and create lasting change within our industry. Thank you for your trust, support and enthusiasm. Together, we will elevate the MPI Foundation and, in turn, the meeting and event industry we love so dearly.
