I
have been passionate about experiences as long as I can remember, so
creating those for other people now is a dream come true. Like a compass
pointing North, my involvement with MPI has guided me throughout my
career. I still have much to learn and space to grow, but my MPI
connections and experiences have been so valuable to my journey that
giving back by serving on the Board was an easy decision to make.
Passion and purpose are the driving forces behind everything that I do. With over 15 years of experience in events, sponsorships, marketing, and customer service, I developed a passion for relationship-building, for creating memorable experiences that allow clients to tell their stories and engage with customers. Being a member of MPI has allowed me to connect with like-minded individuals as well look for opportunities to build strategic partnerships between the chapter and the local event industry. When I am not traveling between Montreal (where I am originally from) and Edmonton, you can find me planning my next trip or researching local new foodie hangouts.
Event Management is truly a passion of mine. The joy of interacting with guests and suppliers, the rush of adrenaline onsite, and the gratification of successfully completing an event. These are the things that have kept me in the meeting and events industry since 2001. I originally joined MPI in 2010 to access the education and career development offered, with the goal of earning my CMP designation (which I did in 2011). I soon discovered that the people I have met and built relationships with along the way is another amazing benefit of being a member of MPI. I stepped out of my comfort zone when I decided to join the Greater Edmonton Chapter Board of Directors and I'm definitely glad I that did. The experience I have gained is invaluable and the people I have connected with will be lifelong friends. I look forward to continuing to serve our members and contributing to the MPI community.
As a new member of MPI as well as a new member of the BOD, I’m excited to learn more about this fabulous industry and to meet new people!
Now that my kids are pretty much grown, a new goal is to start travelling more. I like reading, going to movies, gardening and watching NFL football. Go Pats!
Member Engagement Specialist at the Association of Alberta Registry Agents (AARA)
I originally joined MPI as a student through Mount Royal College. Mount Royal encouraged me to join MPI, as did my father-in-law, who was a member of MPI many years ago. He told me, “If you ever get a chance to join MPI, do it.” I did, and I am so glad about that decision.
I love making new friends through MPI networking opportunities and using in my own events the new skills that I have learned at educational sessions. The MPI community is not competitive, but supportive. I can always bounce ideas and ask for expert advice from the people that I have met through MPI.
Other than my love of event planning, I also enjoy spending time with family and friends, hosting game nights, and attending concerts and expos.
Born in Chile but moved to Canada 33 years ago, with a passion for the Hospitality Industry. Erica started her career with Starwood in Toronto, then relocated to Edmonton to be a part of The Fairmont luxury chain.
Now as the Regional Sales Manager for Fairmont Hotels and Resorts for Canada's Western Mountain Region, she is blessed with wonderful experiences in the mountains such as skiing and golfing, and so thankful to be part of a community and company which supports and encourages her to grow and be herself.
Erica's Husband and two Children provide her with inspiration and constant reminders of what really matters in life.
I have studied Journalism and Advertising, but for over 25 years, my partner and I at TNT Event Planning have been presenting some of Edmonton's most successful events. From small intimate gatherings to huge, multi-sport events like Corporate Challenge; in which I have been the Games Manager/Executive Director of Edmonton and Area Corporate Challenge since 1999. In my personal time I love to spend time with my dog Millie and my partner Steve, and my passion for travel has taken me to 56 countries and counting. I look forward to my role on this board and working with some wonderful people.
I have been a member since August 2020, when I enrolled at NAIT and currently working towards my Event Management Certification. MPI has become a valuable resource in my roll as Director of Communications, and my journey to becoming an Event Planner. Volunteering on the board, has introduced me to new skills and gave me the opportunity to meet some wonderful people. Looking forward to an amazing term.
