Why did you join MPI and what do you love most about your experience with the organization?

I joined Meeting Professionals International (MPI) to deepen my expertise in event planning and connect with a dynamic community of industry professionals. As someone who thrives on delivering seamless and impactful events, I was eager to stay ahead of emerging trends, gain access to specialized training, and expand my professional network. MPI’s reputation for offering high-quality educational resources and fostering a collaborative environment made it the perfect platform to elevate my skills and knowledge.

What I love most about my experience with MPI is the opportunity to engage with a diverse group of professionals who share my passion for creating exceptional event experiences. Through networking events, certification programs, and knowledge-sharing sessions, I’ve not only expanded my technical expertise but also developed meaningful relationships with like-minded peers. The inclusive and supportive atmosphere within MPI continually inspires me to grow, innovate, and contribute positively to the event management industry.

How did you get your start in the industry?

I was exposed to the industry from my mother when I was fresh out of high school. She worked in Speaker Bureaus and actually she still does. I started my career as a Speaker Bureau Logistics Planner back in 2009 because of my mother.

What is the best career advice you've received?
The best career advice I received is "There is no such thing as a ceiling, unless you create one."

What is the most memorable event you have planned or client experience you have had?

The most memorable event I have planned would have to be the time I planned a non-pharmaceutical event in Phoenix, Arizona. I got to work closely with the client's leadership on that one, and that really gave me a chance to show what I could do.

What is your favorite city to travel to and why?
My favorite city to travel to is New Orleans, Louisiana. The city’s rich culture, vibrant music scene, and incredible cuisine make every visit an unforgettable experience. From exploring the historic French Quarter to enjoying live jazz on Frenchmen Street, there’s always something exciting to discover. I love how the city blends its deep-rooted history with a lively, welcoming atmosphere that draws people in.

What I enjoy most is the unique energy that fills the air in New Orleans. Whether it’s savoring a beignet at Café du Monde, strolling along the Mississippi River, or experiencing the magic of Mardi Gras, the city offers an endless array of experiences that engage all the senses. It’s a place where I can fully immerse myself in culture, creativity, and community, which is why it remains at the top of my travel list.

What is your favorite book?

"Becoming" by Michelle Obama

If you were stranded on a desert island, what 3 items would you bring with you?

Food, music, and books!

If you could meet any historical figure, who would you choose and why?
If I could meet any historical figure, I would choose Maya Angelou. Her powerful words, resilience, and unwavering commitment to advocating for equality and justice have always inspired me. As a poet, author, and civil rights activist, she used her voice to empower others and shed light on issues of race, identity, and empowerment. Her ability to transform personal hardships into profound lessons of strength and grace resonates deeply with me.
I would love the opportunity to sit down with her and gain insight into how she maintained such courage and compassion while navigating challenging times. I’d ask her how she stayed true to her authentic self while using her platform to create lasting change. Her wisdom and perspective would undoubtedly offer invaluable lessons, not just for my professional journey but for life itself.

If you could live anywhere on this planet and take everything that you love with you, where would you choose to live?

On an island

Who would you like to be for a day?

A lottery winner

What three words describe you best?

Ambitious, motivated, and understanding.

What is your all-time favorite movie?

DreamGirls

Describe your perfect day off?
My perfect day off would be a blend of relaxation, creativity, and a little adventure. I’d start the morning with a peaceful cup of coffee or a smoothie, savoring the quiet while catching up on a good book or listening to an inspiring podcast. After that, I’d take a leisurely walk or spend some time outdoors—maybe a stroll through a scenic park or along a beach, enjoying the fresh air and taking in nature.
In the afternoon, I’d indulge in something creative or fulfilling. Whether it’s experimenting with a new recipe, writing some new music or even planning my next trip, I love staying engaged with activities that bring me joy. To top it off, I’d unwind in the evening with a great movie or dinner with close friends and family, ending the day feeling refreshed and recharged. It’s the perfect balance of relaxation and inspiration!
