MPI PHL CARES October Spotlight: Susan G. Komen Philadelphia

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Why? Because 1 in 8 women will develop breast cancer in their lifetime and that has to change!

Thankfully, great strides are being made in increasing awareness, earlier detection and treatment advances, resulting in 1000s of lives being saved. One of the organizations at the forefront of the battle against breast cancer is Susan G. Komen, and it’s Philly chapter is one of the most vital in the country.

At this month’s meeting, the CEO of Komen Philadelphia, Elaine Grobman, will be in attendance and we will be raffling off two FANTASTIC gift certificates, $100 to URBAN FARMER and $100 to Di BRUNO BROS.
Each ticket will offer the opportunity to win either gift certificate (2 chances to win) and will go for $20 or 3 for $50. Every raffle dollar raised will be donated to Komen on behalf of MPI PHL - helping to make a difference in the battle against a disease that affects so many!

MPI PHL CARES November Spotlight:
Cradles to Crayons, Gear up for Winter

Remember the glory of wintertime as a kid? Bundling up to build a snowman. Wishing for days off from school. Catching snowflakes on your tongue.

For families in need, however, a Philadelphia winter can be debilitating. No child should have to wait at the bus stop in below-freezing temperatures without a coat.

MPI PHL is teaming up again with Cradles to Crayons on their  “Gear Up for Winter”  program  which supplies warm winter gear to children whose families struggle just to stay warm.  A donation of just $33 can provide 1 child with the essential items they need. This can include, a week’s worth of clothing, a pair of winter boots, a winter coat, hat, gloves, and any additional essentials they may be in need of.

Let’s help to prepare kids for winter before it becomes an emergency.  To make a donation please click here

You can also bring new or like new items to our November 20th meeting. Items requested include winter coats, snow boots hats & glove sets, long pant & long sleeve shirts.
