Achieve the Echelon of Accomplishments: Inside the MPI CMP Study Group

We can tell you that you should join our Fall CMP Study Group course because the CMP designation is nationally recognized. We could explain that the experience will enhance your resume and mindset as a strategic planner. We can go on and on about how you would have the support of fellow candidates and the guidance and insight of CMPs with a broad range of experience since it will be unpleasant to carry this feat alone. The CMP Study Group offered through MPI PHL is an excellent way to prepare for taking the CMP exam. In my personal experience, I found that the way the facilitators presented the materials and structured the content to be most useful in shaping how I could then study and review the materials on my own. Sharing this experience with other like-minded professionals seeking to take this next step in their career was beneficial on so many levels. I remain in contact with many of my fellow group mates and they, along with the facilitators, have become an essential wealth of knowledge when I have questions relating to the EIC domains and best practices in my own career. If you are asking yourself, “why?” you should register for the study group I will counter with, “why not?” Where else will you have access to other industry professionals and registered CMP’s on a weekly basis that are invested in your success?

I signed up for the MPI CMP Study group in 2003 when I sat for the exam because I knew I couldn't do it alone. I wanted a cohort of colleagues who would help each other get through it and experts who had been there to help guide us.
I have very definitely gained two different jobs due to my CMP. The hiring manager had a sister who was a CMP and knew what it took to get certified. On a separate occasion, the role called for it and was necessary to be credentialed with all the knowledge supporting it. 

As a facilitator, I recommend the group because we're fun and passionate. Personally,
my goals all mesh with this experience. I love learning about a person's background and helping them craft their future goals, find available paths to take, and overall develop themselves both personally and professionally.

I don't think I would have passed the CMP Exam if it were not for the great team of facilitators back in 2011. It felt like I studied forever, but it was a solid 3-4 months of intensive study that blew by within my very small, but supportive CMP Candidate cohort.  We were the last class to take the paper-based exam... in the basement conference room of the Hampton Inn at LaGuardia Airport. That is by far my favorite CMP story.  

My CMP designation has provided me job opportunities and allowed me to advance my career. I was even accepted as a speaker for the 2019 CMP Conclave in Colorado Springs!  I truly believe that studying and sitting for the CMP exam is worthwhile for those that want to take the next step in meeting/event management.

The MPI Philadelphia Fall CMP Study Group is forming now and kicks-off on Saturday, September 25, 2021. The first seven meetings of the CMP Study Group will be hosted via Zoom, with the final meeting to be held at The Westin Philadelphia on Saturday, November 13th.
Even if you are not planning to take the exam in 2021, you can earn valuable CEs for a future exam application by enrolling in and attending the MPI-PHL study group classes.
