Finding a work and life balance in a fast-paced, modern world is never easy, but Angela (Angi) — our chapter’s volunteer of the month — seems to have a knack for it.
Angi’s career in hospitality began at a young age. At 17, she was already juggling a full-time job with the academic demands of high school. But her efforts weren’t made in vain, for it was then that she first developed a strong work ethic and began paving the way to a rewarding career.
For over 10 and a half years, Angi held a variety of sales positions at Marriott Hotels, learning all the ins and outs of negotiations and contractual reviews. She eventually crossed over into corporate meeting planning, finding a new home at Marathon Petroleum, where she has been for the last nine years, and applying what she learned from both sides of the industry to better position herself and her company for success.
Although Angi has not been able to travel to on-site events this year, she has kept herself busy in other ways. She is an advocate of learning and growth, both through continuing education for herself and a mentorship of her peers in the hospitality industry, and she finds additional support when spending quality time outdoors or with her friends and family — which consists of an impressive count of nieces and nephews.
