In Your Own Words - Brian Fisher, MBA

We asked Brian Fisher, MBA, an Account Manager with Limitless Lights and Sound what Leadership Experience through MPI Texas Hill Country Chapter has meant to him.  Here is what he shared. 

What inspired you to step into a leadership role with MPI THCC, and how did you know it was the right time to get more involved? 

I wanted to give back to the meeting industry as I have seen lots of personal growth in from being an in house AV director to now being an account executive with an outside AV company. The timing just seemed right to step in and step up when the opening happened.

What have been some of the most unexpected benefits of board service—whether new opportunities, deeper connections, or skills you didn’t expect to develop? 

I am finding the connections I am making to be invaluable.  Being able to present at TEC25 will be an honor and hopefully educational for those that attend my session.

Since stepping into your role as Director of Networking, how has board service challenged you to grow—personally or professionally? 

I find that being on the board as the Director of Networking has made come out of my shell more to connect with others at events and introduce myself to them.

What would you say to someone who’s considering joining a committee but feels unsure whether they’re “ready” for leadership? 

Just jump in! Serving on a committee or the board is a great way to open up and have a sense of pride. 

How do you see this leadership role supporting your long-term goals in the events industry—or even influencing how you show up in your day-to-day work? 

I feel that serving in a leadership role shows that I am serious about the industry and wanting to give back to it. It allows me to make more contacts and help me share my knowledge with others.
